A pretty talented dude by the name of Pablo Picasso said the enemy of creativity is good sense. I know these trees should be green, you know these trees should be green, but that would make too much sense. Don’t be afraid to push those boundaries and bring that creative imagination of yours to life my friends!
One of those times I wonder why I always feel the urge to scale a cliff, stand on the edge, and dangle my feet off... I think it has to do with feeling alive, focusing on only me and my connection to the earth, and of course to soak in as much of the beauty as I can... For me that’s living!
Today has been a day of introspection, goal setting, and planning. As I’m heading back to Europe in a few days I’m feeling pretty fricken stoked on what’s to come next! It won’t be vanlife, but it will be a journey like no other I’ve ever embarked on. Ambitious, scary, challenging, and potentially life changing. I have a month or so of travelling with friends, then it’s time to get the wheels in motion on a plan I’ve dreamt about for last 3 years. I’m so stoked right now, and hope you guys stick around for what’s to come because I think it will be a wild ride! P.s apologies on the throwback images the past couple of days but I’ve had some laptop issues. They’re all resolved now though and I will be slinging you some fresh sizzlers from tomorrow onward 💥♨️🕺🏻
My favourite drive in the world, where 3 hours feels like one giant amazing moment. I also just found out Canada has extended their working visa policies, meaning I can come back for another 2 years 💥🎉♨️🕺🏻🇨🇦 As I feel like this place is my second home, and I’d like it to be my primary home, I’m sooo fricken pumped for this!! Anyone else out there stoked on this news?!
A deliciously tasty sunset on the Oregon Coast. We hustled hard to make it out here in time for sunset after a long day of editing in the van. It’s a love hate relationship with it sometimes, where long working days in a tiny space give me cabin fever. But then I step outside with this spot on my doorstep and I remember exactly why I do what I do... ain’t half bad at all!
One of those mornings where the only saviour for your frozen hands is a hot cup of tea or coffee - in this case tea, coffee is forever banned in my vans as I can’t even handle the smell of it. Even tiramisu - 🤢 -so gross! Am I the only one out there that can’t get anywhere near the stuff?!
Exploring a place that has been on your bucket list for so long can sometimes be a little disappointing. You’ve put so much hype onto a place that when you get there it just can’t quite live up to the image you had in your mind. This place was definitely not that case, it’s insane. Soooo insane! Such an incredibly unique landscape that I’m pretty sure could hold up to the hypiest of hype!
This is a celebration, a celebration thanking each and every one of you for supporting me on this wild ride! Yesterday I ticked over the 150k follower mark... 150k!!! This blows my mind! That is an insane amount of people here to support me, and I can’t thank you all enough as I literally could not live the life I do without your constant support! Every single follower, every like, every comment, every DM, seriously, I’m incredibly grateful for! For me, I hope you guys get something more out of this than just a second or two of looking at a pretty picture. Every day I want you to feel inspired, inspired to travel, to live more simply, to be brave enough to step into the unknown, but more importantly inspired to chase whatever it is that makes YOU happy. This journey has brought more joy into my life than I ever could of imagined, and I wish for each and every one of you to be on a journey that does exactly that for you, a journey of fulfilment and happiness! You deserve nothing less! Once again, thank you for being apart of this amazing community, you’re the BEST, and I appreciate you to the end of the earth and back! 😊🙏🏼💥🎉🕺🏻 Thanks for the snap @karl_shakur 🙌🏼
The 2am alarm blasting in our ears must of known this morning was going to be a good one. Ploughing through some fresh snow to reach this vantage point we didn’t really know where we were going, I was just on a mission to make it before the sun got too high in the sky. @rachelbowler_ trusted me enough to stay in my footsteps and let me push on ahead in the hope I found whatever it was I was searching for. Turns out I did. A beautiful Yosemite Valley covered in fog, the perfect perch to soak up the view, and enough time to sip on a warm tea and devour some bagels before the sun finally warmed our numb bodies. Mission accomplished and a couple of extremely happy chappies!
A sunset paddle with nobody else on the lake, can you feel the joy of this moment?! We stopped paddling, laid back in the canoe, listened to the loons calling in the distance (which we initially thought were wolves 😂 ), and soaked up the tranquility. we probably spent a good couple of hours out there. One of those nights that I’ll forever be grateful for!
If you could sit here with one person in the world, dead or alive, sipping a semi-warm van beer under the stars, plus enjoying a fire and the last of the sunset glow, who would it be?! P.s. Apologies for that facial expression but that fire obviously has me in some kind of heavy trance 😂
That time I tried to kidnap @sukiicat and turn her into a vanlife cat... she loved it, but her humans didn’t 😂
Even when the rain rolls in Moraine Lake is still one of the most beautiful places I’ve been in the world. Yes it gets busy, but the views don’t get much better than this 👌🏼 If you’re heading up try and make it for sunrise or sunset to really see this lake come alive, you won’t regret it!
On a scale of 1 to cuteness overload how badly do you want to snuggle Luna the pup?! @alexjiggs gets them on the daily!
As I’m about to crawl into the back of my rental suv and sleep after a 30km hike (before lunch ), I’m reminiscing about this valiant steed and how bad I wish I was crawling into my bed in there. So here’s a little throw back to one of those perfect places in a not-so perfect (yet fricken amazing ) van. I miss you Alpine 😭
If any of you followed my stories you’d know I dipped out to Iceland for a couple of weeks for a little bit of work and pleasure (most of the work involved picking my jaw up off the floor after every bend in the road ). I’d been once before back in 2014 and it blew me away, fair to say this time around was no different. I’ll just have to add it to the list of countries I’d happily live in. Have you guys been? If so what did you think? If not why haven’t you and get your butt there ASAP!!
How big do you feel when you look up at the stars? I sometimes laugh that my entire life fits in a van, and soon to be a back pack, which I would consider to be a pretty small existence... but then looking up at this... wowsers, I don’t even know how to comprehend it all, like, how am I even here?! Do you guys also get stuck, absolutely gobsmacked, staring at the stars and pondering your existence?!
Within 2 weeks I’ll be handing over my van to its new owner. I actually shed a few tears when I handed over my first one (just one or two because it’s weird if a man cries right 🤦🏼♂️ truth is I was actually like this 😭 ), and while I didn’t think I would be too worried about this one, looking back on all the adventures it’s given me I’m actually starting to feel as though I just might shed a couple more... maybe 😢 I still literally have no idea what I’m doing next, like none... 😬 I do, however, like pressure so I think something pretty amazing will come of all this freedom. So I guess stay tuned and watch this space because who knows what could happen 🤷🏼♂️😂 Ps if you have any idea what I should be doing I would appreciate some help on this one hahahaha 😬🙏🏼
You all know I'm a big fan of freedom, and that's one of the biggest reasons why vanlife is such an addictive lifestyle as it's hard to beat the amount of freedom it gives you. I've been able to step up my freedom a little more this trip, not having to stress about my power usage no matter how long I stay in one spot. I've never had solar, always opting for the cheaper setup and relying on leisure batteries being charged by the alternator as I drive. It was always a point of stress, making sure I have enough juice to keep working and keep my electronics topped up when staying in spots for long periods. However, for the past month, I've been trying out the E440 Portable Power Station and the 100W Solar Panel from @jackeryusa As my workload increases and days spent locked to my laptop outweigh the adventurous days, this solar setup has actually been a lifesaver! At this stage you can only charge the Power Station via a wall outlet or the solar panel, no 12V, but I still think its a great option for car camping trips, or a backup power solution for any off-grid setup. Jackery have also just launched a new line of solar panel - Solar Saga - which is an exciting direction, so be sure to go check them out if you're in the market for a new power solution. #Jackery #SolarSaga #ad #PowerOutdoors #PortablePowerStation

For those of you wanting a photographers perspective on the new OnePlus 7 Pro, I’ve been testing its capabilities out over the past couple of weeks and wowsers, this 48MP camera (I know, 48MP in a phone camera is INSANE, it's more than my DSLR!!! ) is pretty damn impressive! I’ve cropped in really tight and the image is still incredibly sharp, and its performance in low light is surprisingly good! Also, the pop-up front facing camera (eliminating the frustrating notch ) makes me feel like 007 haha. I’m going to keep playing with it, but for now, I’m thinking I might make the permanent switch to this phone, it's seriously that good! #ShotonOnePlus Giveaway Rules: No Purchase Necessary. For only the second time in all my years of vanlife I was pretty scared last night, a situation as far away from the image above as I could possibly imagine, but you have to take the insane highs of the location above with the pretty solid low point I’m about to discuss. We’d finished a long day of work and driving, and found a big gravel patch next to the road and train tracks to park for the night. It was a terrible spot with so much noise, but tiredness had set in and we couldn’t be bothered driving around to find somewhere better. Whilst brushing our teeth a guy with a flash light appeared out of no where, yelling, when he turned his attention to us and started coming our way. We jumped in van and locked the doors, but he turned the flash light off and disappeared. We were probably over reacting, and again tiredness won so we just played it down and went to sleep. At 1:30am we get a knock on the van, a guy was yelling and circling the van, it was apparent right away it wasn’t the police. We laid there in silence hoping he would go away - he didn’t. It was hard to make out what he was saying the majority of the time, but he did say “if you come out I’ll leave you alone.” I cracked the door open and saw it was the same guy as before. I must have looked like a wild mess after just waking up, but spoke to him calmly and tried to suss out what he wanted. He fed me some bullshit about parking the van with the lights facing the road so the cops didn’t bother us, then he walked back over the train tracks and disappeared. It was blatantly obvious he was scoping the van to break into it, so I jumped in the drivers seat and moved us on for the night. Whilst nothing actually happened, sometimes you just get that feeling in your stomach that things are incredibly wrong, something we should have listened to it the first time. Now the reason I’m sharing this with you is to not turn you off vanlife or to create drama, like I said this is only the second time I’ve ever felt unsafe, I just really hope that if you’re ever in a situation where things don’t feel right, act on it straight away and get yourself in a situation that you’re comfortable with. Stay safe out there!!!
Exploring some new views for me in Zion. What. A. Place. It blows me away every time, then again, so do most parks over here in the US. You guys just have so much diversity I can’t help but plan more road trips here... On that note, if anyone knows of a way to fast track a North American passport let me know 😬
Mornings spent with the locals - moments before @rachelbowler_ realised she locked the keys in the van... a morning to remember for many reasons!
Two large humans (6ft each ) in this small van has brought about a few challenges, but more laughs than frustrations. For me it’s a mindset thing, I could easily get frustrated and hate the fact I can’t stand up or keep hitting my elbows, head and gangly limbs on everything, or the fact we’re constantly shuffling around each other to give each other some space. OR the better option, laughing at how we end up getting tangled in this tiny space, laugh at each other knocking our heads for the 7th time that morning, and laugh that we can only stretch one part of our body at a time. Laughter is key, and as long as we don’t take things too seriously those frustrations are soon forgotten. The real vanlife.
