These are the products that I couldn’t live without during this 10 day trip to Tokyo 🇯🇵 Products shown: @billie razor, @lola tampons, @glossier super pure serum and gen g in like, @itcosmetics powder foundation, @labelladonna highlight (I use it as an eyeshadow ), @laneige_us lip mask (an ACTUAL necessity ), @youthtothepeople adaptogen creme, @theouai anti frizz sheets (great for unpredictable weather ), & @lovebeautyandplanet deodorant. #wellnesshoe 🌸

NATURAL DEODORANT. Why do they all suck so bad? Clearly I’ve tried a few. Well ok, not *all* of these suck, but some of them *definitely* do. I’m on a mission to try ALL OF EM until I find the perfect one. Here’s my bare minimum requirements: keeps me smelling fresh for at least 4 hours (but ideally more like 8 ), won’t make my ‘pits chafe or rash, and has a texture that isn’t too dry or too wet. Is that so much to ask? Drop a line if you’ve found a brand that works for you because right now I’m still on the hunt. 🕵🏼‍♀️🧐✨ #wellnesshoe

Kombucha... but make it alcoholic ✨ When I’m feeling extra crazy I like to spike my kombucha with a shot of tequila and the juice of half a lemon. It’s my favorite way to unwind after a long day but still get some probiotcs in. What is your wellness cocktail of choice? ⬇️ #wellnesshoe

In the year 2019, everyone and their mother is aware that gut health is something to prioritize, but few people are talking about brain health. 🧠 ✨ As someone with Alzheimer’s disease in my family I am especially aware of my own risk, and doing everything I can to strengthen my brain function and prevent decline. I was at the @mothersmarkets grand opening in Manhattan Beach last weekend when I saw this @teaonic “I love my brain” herbal tonic with ingredients like rooibos, gingko biloba and gotu kola. These herbs have been used for centuries to promote optimal cognitive function. It is so exciting to see the market for holistic remedies really picking up, we have so much access to ingredients that most of us didn’t even know existed a few years ago. In addition to this herbal tonic, I also always make sure to take a daily Omega 3 supplement. You can get omega 3s from your diet if you eat foods like salmon, walnuts, chia seeds, sardines, or eggs, but many people (including myself ) are eating far fewer of these foods than we need. In order to make sure I’m getting my daily dose of EPA and DHA, I take this @humnutrition supplement. Omega 3s are also great for heart health and skin suppleness, so it’s a win-win-win. For a while I got used to feeling mentally cluttered and foggy, and as soon as I switched to a higher fat diet and started incorporating these things I felt like I was firing on all cylinders. We really can empower ourselves through our dietary choices. The good news is, the latest scientific research is showing that we actually have a hand in our genetic expression, and we don’t just have to blindly accept our fate. Cheers to having autonomy over our health ✨ #wellnesshoe

Behold: THE skincare fridge 🧖🏻‍♀️✨ because some products are just better cold, don’t you think? I’ve been using my products out of this @cooluli_usa fridge for the last two weeks and I have some thoughts. Namely, it’s amazing to have all of your products chilled but still in eyesight- like whenever I would put my products in the kitchen fridge I would forget they’re there and never end up using them. This way, they’re chilled but not out of sight. Also, I think my products are working better because I’ve never gotten so many compliments on my skin before! Well gtg, I have a refrigerated skincare routine to do 👋🏼 #wellnesshoe

It’s remarkable how plants can change the energy in your space. These tulips make me feel so excited to welcome the new season of spring next month, especially after this extra rainy (but necessary ) winter in Los Angeles. We finally have a whole week of sunshine to look forward to and with daylight savings just a few weeks away it’s really starting to feel like spring is near. Happy Monday ☀️ #wellnesshoe

Sorry for pulling a disappearing act this last week, I’ve been recovering from a painful bout of bronchitis that just would not get better. One of the only things that made my breathing easier was frequent, warm and steamy showers 🧖🏻‍♀️🚿 After almost 2 dang weeks of fighting this, I am finally starting to feel somewhat better. Shoutout to my shower products for sparking joy for me over a rough period of time ✨ what is in your shower that I might be missing out on? #wellnesshoe

@Healthworkschef sent me their almond flour and challenged me to come up with a healthy creation! I decided to meal prep these super-antioxidant packed cacao blueberry muffins to bring to work this week. These muffins are gluten free, keto, paleo, and high in fiber! To make: Combine 1 cup of @healthworkschef almond flour with 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp cacao powder, 6 packets of sugar-free sweetener such as truvia, and a pinch of sea salt. In a separate bowl combine 3 tbs coconut oil with 2 whole eggs, and 3/4th cup unsweetened coconut milk. Combine the wet & dry ingredients and then mix in a few handfuls of blueberries to taste. Pour into greased muffin tins and top with more blueberries and shaved almonds or nuts of choice 😍 Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until they pass the toothpick test 💛 These are so good it’s hard to believe how healthy they are. If you make them be sure to tag me & @healthworkschef , we would love to see! Xoxo #wellnesshoe #healthworks

February 2019

Good morning and Happy Friday ✨ This rainy season in LA isn’t anything like the frigid winter in other areas, but my skin is definitely feeling dry and lackluster lately. Keeping your skin healthy and hydrated during the colder months is key. The way I combat this is by dry brushing and moisturizing after I shower. Dry brushing has so many benefits: it helps detox your lymphatic system, it increases circulation, and it obviously also exfoliates the top layer of dead skin cells, which reveals your healthier and more glowy skin underneath. After I’ve brushed my entire body in circular motions from head to toe, I like to replenish that new layer of skin with my @necessaire body lotion. I’ve been using this lotion everyday since they sent me it to try last week and I am utterly obsessed with it. I was never much of a body lotion girl because they’re always so sticky or leave a weird smell. This one smells like literally nothing and is packed full of vitamins a, b3, c, e, and omegas! We have to take equally as good of care of our bodies as we do our faces, don’t you think? What do you do to combat dry skin during the winter? 🧖🏻‍♀️🌧❄️ #wellnesshoe

I’m home sick from work and it’s storming in LA 🤧⚡️⛈ Getting myself back to health with a @pressedjuicery celery juice and the meal I’ve been eating everyday for the last week or two: @twogoodyogurt Vanilla Greek yogurt with only 2 carbs per serving 👏🏼, @navitasorganics cacao nibs, @vivanaturals chia seeds, organic berries, organic sliced almonds and @lazyacresmarket_hermosabeach almond butter drizzled over top. Using this day home from work as an opportunity to rest, journal, and realign my intentions for the month of February. Always find the silver lining, right? ✨ Hope everyone stays safe and healthy today in this storm! Xoxo #wellnesshoe

I keep a gratitude journal where I also write my intentions and manifestations down. I think I have been manifesting “I am balanced” and “I am living in divine timing” every day for the past year. I have a tendency to rush things and always try to get to the next level instead of enjoying the process. I am finding that things are less precious when you bend them to your will, and make them happen versus letting them happen. This is a reminder to anyone who needs it that your life is in perfect flow and everything is happening exactly as it should 💓 #wellnesshoe

We need to talk about ingredients. @Necessaire recently sent me their collection to try, and it got me thinking about the standard we set for our bath & body products. In the wellness space we are always scrutinizing the ingredients we put into our bodies, but rarely think twice about the ingredients we put onto our bodies. Everything we put on our skin absorbs into our system, so while cutting out processed foods & chemicals from our diet is amazing, there is still so much we can do in other areas of our lives. ESPECIALLY when it comes to feminine hygiene products, one of the most sensitive and delicate parts of our bodies that deserves the most consideration. I love that in 2019 we finally have resources and access to so many ethical products, and we can empower ourselves to take control over our health. New year, new standards ✨ #wellnesshoe

Lil loving reminder that who you were yesterday doesn’t have to dictate who you are tomorrow. Sometimes in moments of clarity I swear I have it all figured out - I know exactly who I am and what my purpose is, and that feeling of self actualization is so powerful, you almost feel like you can do anything. Then in moments of insecurity I feel lost and question every decision I’ve ever made. These days I am trying to lean into my intuition and focus more on what’s immediate and less on trying to curate every step of my life. I’m not sure if this is relatable to anyone else, especially those in their early 20s, but I’m pretty sure I can’t be the only one who feels this way. I’m manifesting a lot for this year, but one overarching theme is to listen to my intuition, and let that guide me to be the person I’m supposed to be 💫✨💓 #wellnesshoe 🎨 by @heysuperstar

Good morning! It’s the first weekend of 2019 and I’m posting this as a reminder to myself but also for anyone that needs it. Change can be terrifying, even when you’re sure you’re making the right decision. When we come to a fork in the road we have to choose to either go the path that is unknown but full of potential, or to go the path that is safe and familiar. I know that I usually fall into the habit of sticking to what’s familiar because it’s comfortable, but we can’t become who we want to be if we’re stuck in our comfort zones. We have to get past fear, discomfort and doubt in order to evolve into our best selves. Hoping everyone has the best weekend 💕 #wellnesshoe

Do you see what I see? Yes, those eggs are BLUE! These beautiful brown & blue eggs are heritage breed eggs from @happyeggcousa 💙🥚 Look at the deep color of those yolks! You can tell the kind of life a chicken has by the color of their yolk because two major factors affect this - sunlight and diet. The darker the yolk, the healthier the egg. My dream is to have backyard chickens of my own someday 🐓 #wellnesshoe

My great grandma suffered from dementia, I was very young when she passed away, but all I remember was the pain my family went through as she completely lost her memory and ability to care for her self, and in the end, not knowing who any of her children or grandchildren were. Her daughter, my Grandma, has been suffering with Lewy Body Dementia for the last 4 years. She is the most incredible woman, and it is devastating to see this disease strip her of so many qualities that make her, her. Maybe I am naive or too optimistic, but if I can avoid getting this disease myself by starting a preventative diet now at 22, it’s worth a shot. This book outlines how our diets affect the way our genes express themselves (nutriepigenetics ). This means we have a chance. But we can’t follow advice from biased entities that don’t have our best interests at heart. A quote from the book: “Whether or not we are conscious of it, we are caught in the cross fire between warring factions. Food companies, operating under the “invisible hand” of the market, are driven by shareholders to deliver ever-increasing profits lest they risk irrelevance. As such, they market foods to us explicitly designed to create insatiable addiction. On the opposing front, our underfunded health care system and scientific research apparatus are stuck playing catch-up, doling our advice and policy that however well intentioned is subject to innumerable biases... Our physicians, nutritionists and even the government all have their say, and yet they are consciously and subconsciously influenced by powers beyond the naked eye.” - @maxlugavere #wellnesshoe

Getting a head start on my new year goals, one of which is to be more consistent with my vitamin & supplement routine. It’s crazy how we can have all of the tools in front of us to succeed and still be too lazy / distracted to actually utilize them. I know how good I feel when I’m consistent with my @humnutrition routine and regular CBD use. Right now I’m loving this @carebydesign 18:1 tincture that helps me sleep like a baby every night. For me, consistent cbd use is something that makes a huge difference in my anxiety levels. If you want to join me in getting back in balance, you can use code 123CA7 for $10 off your first @humnutrition purchase! I will get $10 too so it’s a win-win. In the new year I’m going to make it a major priority to never miss my daily supplements. The 3 that I seriously can not live without are Uber Energy for adrenal support, Big Chill for adaptogens to balance my stress and anxiety, and Omega the great for brain function 🧠✨ what do you supplement? #wellnesshoe

I hope that everyone has had a beautiful holiday season, filled with loved ones, delicious food, and hopefully some time off of work. I’m taking some much needed me time today - I spent the morning cleaning and organizing (which is actually an activity I love but put off when I’m super busy ), made a delicious berry avocado smoothie for lunch (peep my story for the recipe ) and now I’m taking the loveliest bath using this @cannabathco CBD muscle relief bath bomb. Also lighting my new @phlur candle in the scent howl and drinking from my @livelarq bottle. Life is good. Hoping you all can take some time for yourself and just know that you can’t take care of everything and everyone if you’re not first taking care of yourself. Sending loveeee 💓 #wellnesshoe

I have the hardest time saying no. I recently realized how toxic it is to keep saying yes to everything, especially the things I don’t have any actual interest in, because every yes I give is a no to something else. I realized that I was saying yes out of fear - fear that the people asking me for favors would no longer like me, or think I’m selfish, or think I’m unhelpful. What I’ve found since I’ve started practicing the phrase, “I’m sorry, but I can’t take that on right now or other priorities might slip through the cracks” is that people actually respect you and your time more. Whenever I used to say yes to things I didn’t want to do, but felt obligated to do, I would find a deep part of myself resenting the person who asked me to do it. Thinking thoughts like, “I hope they are grateful”, or, “I hope they know how much I’m giving up to do this”. So my inability to say no began poisoning my view of people who hadn’t done anything wrong. Time is our most valuable resource and we only have so many hours in a day. We have to be mindful to fill our time very wisely, with activities that will bring us closer to our goals, or else we are letting other people propel us forward in whatever direction THEY want. I’ve gotten better at saying no, and making myself a priority. Has anyone else dealt with this toxic disease to please? #wellnesshoe

Every day is a new opportunity to practice listening to our bodies. Most days I wake up without an appetite - and I honor that. I can usually go until about 11 or 12 without having anything to eat, not by a force of willpower but just because my body’s natural rhythm leans in the direction of intermittent fasting. Today I woke up hungry - and I honored that. I think that setting rules and having strict routines and schedules sometimes limits us from listening to our bodies or following our intuition. I want to do what feels good, and I think that’s a solid compass to live by. • • • •Ingredients Used: • • @Purely_Elizabeth Granola • • @vivanaturals chia seeds • • @thrivemkt coconut butter • • @chobani whole milk greek yogurt • • @navitasorganics cacao nibs • #wellnesshoe

Healthy at a desk job means packing a healthy lunch, and an ample amount of nutritious snacks. Healthy at a desk job means not reaching for a pick me up at 3 pm via coffee or tea, but rather making a mental note to get consistent & better sleep and heal my adrenals. Healthy at a desk job means bringing tons of water to work, and actually drinking it. Healthy at a desk job means getting up and walking around for at least a few minutes each hour. (Thanks @fitbit for the reminders ). Healthy at a desk job means checking my posture so I’m not hunched over, and making sure I’m not holding stress in my shoulders and back. Healthy at a desk job means stretching before work and doing some form of movement after work. Healthy at a desk job means coming home from work and not going straight to the couch. I am not perfect, and there is plenty of room for improvement in my life. It’s easy to get wrapped up in emails and phone calls and spreadsheets and quick books and before you know it it’s 2 pm and you haven’t moved from your desk in 5 hours or drank any water. I’m actively working on a few of these things, especially the part about POSTURE. I am a hunchback when I am not conscious of how I’m sitting. Redid my room in accordance with the bagua in Feng Shui and the energy has never flowed so freely ✨💫☁️ After listening to @meghan wallace.james on @soretrograde I became re-inspired to make my space feel extra good. I want my space to feel simple, clean, practical, meaningful, and calm. One huge change I’m making is being much more intentional with the plant energy I bring into my room. Before this I had 6 succulents, 1 bird of paradise, 2 San Pedro cacti, and 1 snake plant. I retired all of those plants to my back patio except for the snake plant and added 1 new leafy guy to the space, and it feels incredible to hone in on the plant energy I want in my space. Things are feeling good 👍🏼✨ #wellnesshoe

I have a week off of work and unfortunately I woke up yesterday with a stuffy nose and a sore throat. My body has impeccable timing. Using this opportunity of being home all week to rest and relax and reignite all of my healthiest habits that I’ve let slip in my first 3 months of working full time. Since I’m feeling under the weather today I did a low intensity 30 minute stationary bike workout (sweating always makes me feel a little better ), I’m about to take a long steamy bath to loosen up the congestion, and I also made this little ginger, lemon, turmeric and Apple cider vinegar wellness tonic to sip on in the bath. I’m psycho and I love the taste of pure fresh pressed ginger, to me it tastes delicious and I don’t understand why people find wellness shots difficult, I can sip on them like juice. I recently purchased a @breville juicer and I haven’t been to a juicery since. I am saving so much freaking money by making my juices at home it’s actually insane. I haven’t been to pressed juicery or kreation in over a month. I juiced an entire ginger root and 2 lemons which yielded about 8 oz of juice. I added in a shot of Apple cider vinegar, 2 cracks of sea salt and 4 cracks of pepper to activate the teaspoon of @sarifoodscompany turmeric powder that I stirred in. Hoping that a day of healthy habits will allow me to wake up tomorrow feeling brand new and back to my best 💛✨🤗 #wellnesshoe

Mercury retrograde is finally, FINALLY over. As a Leo, I felt tremendously overwhelmed during this retrograde. I felt overwhelmed by work, by the people in my life, and by my own thoughts and realizations. I haven’t posted on here in three weeks because I haven’t felt like myself at all. Someone asked me in real life why I wasn’t posting and I was like “i don’t feel like that girl anymore”, and by that I meant I didn’t feel balanced, healthy, creative or motivated. I couldn’t bring myself to do it, it felt like the most impossible thing in the world. Mercury retrograde ended officially yesterday and I felt it immediately. I’ve always heard that you have to lean into the revealing & healing learning experiences of a mercury retrograde but this last one had me so emotional and sensitive everyday that I was just going through the motions to get by. Now that it’s over and I have a clearer head I’m excited to start to figure out why this last month was so challenging for me. Are you happy the mercury retrograde is over for now, or did it not affect you too much? #wellnesshoe (📸 found on @seekingmillennial )
