A new home, a new city, a new country, a new job… two weeks to pack my life into two suitcases after just one Facebook chat. Wow. . It’s been one year since I left Slovenia for Switzerland and I can’t believe how quickly it's gone. . It was a nice journey, filled with lots of new experiences. I got to meet quite a few amazing human beings and I am beyond grateful for all of them. . This past year has been really special... it has opened my eyes to many things and many people. It has had its ups and downs and ins and outs. And I believe I've been able to take something good from that and grow in my own imparticular way. . You may be asking yourself what is the point of this post? . Well,... If you are considering moving abroad you should know that it's really worth it! На практике заметила,  что во время выполнения продольного шпагата многие "теряют" заднюю ногу и она болтается как сосиска. Многим кажется, что должна работать только впереди лежащая нога и интенсивно растягивают  заднюю ее поверхность, наполняя туловище вперёд.  Хотя, если вы можете сидеть с ровной спиной вытянув две прямые ноги вперед, то значит у вас достаточно гибкости чтобы на шпагате передняя нога лежала на полу. Растяжки требует та нога, которую вы уводите назад. ☁️ Contemplation ☁️ How do we respect and honour the beliefs, morals and values of those to whom we choose to relate, without sacrificing our own, when theirs contradict and possibly challenge ours? ☁️ How do we stay true to ourselves, without the need to impose our views on those who we hold dear, in order to reinforce our own? ☁️ So far my contemplation has led me to the conclusion that the only way to do so is through living mindfully, slowing down and connecting to the deeply seated empath that lies within us all. While simultaneously and actively being aware of one’s own boundaries and respecting them without judgment. But with childlike curiosity. Changing the perspective with which we view the values we identify the most closely to with, allows us to see ourselves as separate from them, understanding that they do not in fact define us. Just wanted to share this picture of pure JOY with my @sly_day captured by the brilliant @almonds z while I share a journal entry with you. . 🌸 . I came to a strange realization as I listened to @yoga_girl 's podcast "Listen to Your Inner Voice (Not to Assholes )": She spike about how there is something we are all meant to do during our time on Earth, but that oftentimes we find ourselves floating, feeling purposeLESS. We're told at such a young age that we're supposed to care how other people view us, how we look, what types of people and experiences we should be afraid of, how our lives are supposed to look (career, marriage, children, etc. ) that it's no wonder we stunt ourselves creatively, straying so far away from who we are meant to be. We make excuses to not pursue the things we are drawn to (doesn't make money, takes too much time, etc. ), and so we feel purposeless. Of course, I am meant to teach yoga - this is so clear. I'm meant to share my practice with others, to show others that they are strong and capable... but that was not the thing that came to mind as Rachel was urging me to be myself and to trust that the world needs what I have to offer... It was writing. Helping, healing, sharing - through storytelling. Teaching yoga effectively and passionately is a mere first step, which I've known all along, but writing? I haven't committed to a story in years, always knowing I'd only be overwhelmed, too many notes, too much to tell, too heavy, where to start? But the realization that I'm supposed to write feels so incredibly... RIGHT. And how do I weave it in with my yoga practice? How do I share it? First of all: how do I commit to a story anyway and CREATE it? Can I? Where to begin? #yoga #writer #writing #storytelling #yogateacher

Taken from @rockinruksi I don’t really share photos that aren’t mine, or of me, etc.. However going along with the Self-Love September theme, I believe this highlights that self-love IS self-value. You are not your clothes, your job, your Instagram account, your income, etc... Your external is a reflection of your internal, and exuding confidence based on the material world or the ego isn’t doing you any real justice. It’s a long, ugly, dark road to allowing that love to flow solely from within, however it is possible, and it is worth it. Sit in whatever it is that you believe these external factors are feeding you, and ask yourself what you can do FOR yourself to make those feelings your own. We’re in a unique position to help people. The flip side of that power is that we can be in a unique position to harm people if we haven’t done the inner work ourselves and we’re teaching from an unhealed place. . . As part of shadow work, I recommend yoga teachers work with trauma-informed therapists on any past or ongoing trauma, family of origin wounds or childhood emotional neglect. Most of us have a little bit of something there. It’s hard to be human and not brush up against trauma or neglect at some point in our lives. . . The other important type of shadow work I recommend for yoga teachers is unlearning oppressive systems. That means taking an honest look at the way we have internalized white supremacy, patriarchy, r*pe culture, transphobia, fatphobia, ableism, colonialism and so forth. It is too easy for us to mirror oppressive systems in our teaching without realizing it. Socially-conscious inner work is crucial in creating safer spaces and supporting students from all walks of life. We become better people for it. . . There’s a saying that the further we go the further we can take our students. I honor the bravery and courage it takes to really dig in to unhealed places and wish you self-compassion every step of the way. 💗

What got you into Yoga? . For a lot of people it was injury. Same for me! When I was 18 I got into a fender bender on a road trip up to Denver (to see Hope Sandoval, great show👌 ). I wasn’t driving, but was asleep on the passenger side and awoke to hitting the car in front of us. The Denver construction plus traffic made for chaos 😑. #denvertraffic So the next day I went for a stretch, reaching my arms out like normal and my spine popped in a way I’ve never felt. It temporarily paralyzed me, but then seemed to be ok. I shrugged it off for a whole YEAR before going to a chiropractor. I went to Dr. Swedberg @chirodocal (best chiropractor in NM ) and he corrected my T12/L1 misalignment. I felt like someone had put my soul back in my body. It was incredible. . So from there I knew I wanted to take very good care of my spine. I found @highdesertyoga and have improved on every level of health in my physical body ever since. I always loved the idea of teaching so took the 500 hour teacher training. Now I am on a mission to help other instructors grow their business, so more beautiful people can receive the same benefits from a powerful, nourishing Yoga practice. . If you’ve ever worried about hurting yourself in Yoga, know that it would only be from not practicing the postures with proper alignment. My schedule has EXPANDED and I am so deeply excited and appreciative to have found home in some new studio spaces that are near and dear to me. It’s been surreal to watch my follower count drop the last few months. Almost 5k gone since May. If this was happening to me this time last year, I would have been inconsolable for weeks. My life revolved around my account and how much it was growing. And I’m not saying growing your account is a bad thing, but when it starts to affect you outside of the app it becomes a problem. Or at least it did for me. It’s really all I cared about. Of course I still care a little bit. I think any person would, no matter what they say. It’s always a bit of a sting when I see the number drop down every few days. But it’s not like it was before. When I obsessed over the exact number, checking it ten, twenty times a day. Taking a step back and relearning how to enjoy what I had away from Instagram made me realize it’s not about followers whatsoever. At least not for me. Chasing after the numbers turned me into someone I didn’t love and I had to change my mindset somehow. So, I just got off and let the numbers go down and down and at some point it didn’t really matter anymore. Life was good and I was happy and my numbers were dropping. And I didn’t care. On another note, I’m usually not a print lady but this leopard from @beyondyoga speaks to me and I never want to take it off 🖤

Sometimes surrendering in the midst of chaos is all we need to feel more ourselves. I don’t know about you, but I definitely sway toward the “control freak” side in life. I mean, practices like yoga have helped me HUGELY in being able to navigate life and those pesky “expectations”, however, sometimes when things get especially hectic, that side of me that wants complete order gets extra loud. In these moments, I find it always helps to pause. To surrender to the present. To take care of myself in that exact moment if I can. And to know that it will pass. Poses like “legs up the wall” aka “waterfall” aka “Viparita Karani” can help with that surrender and is easy to do anywhere you have a wall 👍🏼This pose helps move your body out of fight or flight mode and into REST and RESTORE—something we all need more of! 🙏🏼💆🏼‍♀️💖
