things have come full circle with @adidas back in the day when i was turning 15 my family wanted me to stick to mexican traditions and celebrate with a quinceañera. they hoped for a huge party with mariachi, a big puffy white dress and lots of guests. i had other plans in mind and asked for money to go shopping with. it’d be a lot cheaper for my parents since we never had a whole lot of money growing up. after lots of convincing, they agreed to save all the money they’d spend on a party and give me a couple hundo 💵 to buy a legit adidas black track suit with shoes to match. this isn’t a made up story, it’s 100% true. fast forward to 16 years later.. this is me, about to turn up on my 31st in a few days and still reppin! p.s. this track suit is at @kohls if anyone else wants to make a birthday deal with their parents! #shutthekaleup #createdwithadidas #kohlsfinds #lovekohls

I made @shutthekaleup pancakes for breakfast this morning. They have mashed banana, eggs, blueberries, oats, chia seeds and cinnamon. Topped them with some vanilla yogurt and peanut butter. Repost from @shutthekaleup ✨ ・・・ i took a hot yoga class this morning. it physically felt amazing but mentally i was struggling. our family dynamic is different now, juggling both boys has been a challenge because all elliott wants to do is play and all cole wants to do is be held/nurse. i love this season of life so much don’t get me wrong, but it has its obstacles. during class i was tearing up thinking “i shouldn’t be here, this is selfish. my boys need me, aj needs my help”. i was seriously considering sneaking out of class early but didn’t.. these past 3 weeks postpartum have taught me to slow down. also a great reminder of what joy being outside brings me. an hour of my time at yoga felt like the best therapy session for my mind and spirit. it brought back happiness of being able to be around community and just be me. i’m grateful i get the chance to leave for an hour to work on myself. i’ve learned it’s important for my mental health. whether it’s taking a walk, sitting outside in the sunshine or going to a workout class, i’m a better me when i get to listen to my thoughts solo. change is good. figuring out newness encourages growth and taking care of yourself is crucial since it’s your job to do it. this makes me a better wife, mom and overall human. that’s how i’m starting off this new month, my favorite month cause.. 31 is coming 😎 #shutthekaleup

last night, we went on date. it was our first since having cole and it was much needed. we got to hear our voices, converse without having any interruptions and even planned an anniversary trip! considering the fact that our lives have changed drastically and it’s kinda chaotic at our house, WE’RE doing GOOD. refreshed is what aj said and it’s strange because we just had a newborn haha. our relationship has always been top priority even with having kids because we believe a strong foundation is necessary for a home to function well. we communicate on the reg, hold hands, hug, kiss, tap each other out when we feel like the other needs a break from parenthood, always say ‘thank you’ for doing our part around the house, believe in each other, encourage to get out of our comfort zone, there’s always a solution to every argument, when we disagree we always respect one another.. the list goes on. it’s not perfect nor do we want it to be but this feels like something out of a movie. i can’t explain it and our love keeps growing even in this crazy stage we’re currently in. i’m so into him and he’s into me ♥️ #shutthekaleup #thefrickinogdens

I made @shutthekaleup scones and I can’t even begin to explain how good they are!! Such simple ingredients and soooo delicious!!! Couldn’t find figs so I used @evolvedchocolate one ingredient chocolate chips and @artisanaorganics coconut butter for toppings, and they were amazing 🤤 this is what I used: 1 1/2 cup @bobsredmill almond butter 1 cup oat flour 5 tbsp @traderjoes maple syrup 1/3 cup coconut oil 2 eggs 2 scoops @furtherfood collagen (optional, but great protein add! ) Pinch of pink salt ~1/3 cup @evolvedchocolate chocolate chips Mixed all ingredients, split into 9 and baked at 350F for 17 minutes. After the cool a little bit, add the coconut butter. These look like cookies, but they are actually super thick fluffy scone-like on the inside... happy Saturday!!!

I’ve been trying a shit ton of recipes from @shutthekaleup , but I like her stuff because it’s healthy, tastes good, and doesn’t make me feel bloated. I’m becoming one of those people who passes on recipes but this chocolate chip date smoothie was so satisfying. It has frozen banana, chocolate almond milk ice cubes, dates, cacao nibs, cacao powder, chia seeds and water. Are you in tune with how the food you are eating actually makes you feel? 🤷🏼‍♀️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Does it make you feel sluggish, tired, constipated, bloated, light headed, hormonal OR does it make you feel energized, alive, steady, strong, powerful, clear minded and ready to tackle the day? Do you know that some foods even though you have been told for years they are ‘super foods’ might be hard for your body to digest and therefore are making you sick; we suggest tuning in and looking for the bodies cues.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I always used to eat raw kale salads and would feel bloated and tired after eating. Well now I know kale can be extremely hard to digest and hard on the thyroid when consumed raw. But rather then listen to my body I just kept eating kale because I thought I was ‘being healthy’. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Today I can have my kale and eat it too 😉 It just needs to be cooked with plenty of butter, ghee, or olive oil. And of course I still enjoy a raw kale salad when I’m out and about time to time, but when I’m making a salad at home I either lightly sauté the kale in olive oil or I massage it with avocado and olive oil for at least 5-10 minutes to break it down and make it more digestible. got out of the house before 9am and the only one who lost their shit was me. i’d say that’s a win 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 it took elliott 45 minutes to eat an egg, spinach and 4 tiny pieces of sweet potato. cole pooped 3 times back to back to back after changing him and then spit up on the bed. i accidentally washed my pump with 6oz of milk still in it. but look at us, out and about on this beautiful thursday morning. it’s gonna be a good day! #shutthekaleup

i started going to the gym last week, i went twice and loved being back. with modifications of course because my boobs are huge and heavy. my body felt GOOD and my mind was ON. not gonna lie though, it’s a struggle leaving the house for an hour since i have to make sure i feed cole and pump enough milk for him just in case he gets hungry while i’m gone. i always give this process about an hour in case he doesn’t wanna let go. did i mention i workout at 6am because it’s what works in our schedule? i do it because it makes me feel like ME, for my sanity and some much needed alone time. even if that means waking up at 5am and doing all the things to get prepped for it. i am motivated and this is how i take care of myself - feeling so confident and strong in the new @adidas x FARM collab line at @kohls living for this floral vibe and slowly starting a new routine. i dig it. #shutthekaleup #createdwithadidas #lovekohls #kohlsfinds

Give it up for fig season and these late summer scones!!! ——— These scones are perfectly dense and semi-sweet, and when the figs cook this amazing syrup develops that is SO good. Figs are just coming into season now, and I used a combo of Black Mission Figs and Brown Turkey Figs. Figs are high in soluble fiber and are one of the richest plant sources of different vitamins/minerals and antioxidants... so basically an all time great food to try in your diet. If you don't love them raw, try them dried or baked like this (or with other flavors in a salad ). Adapted this recipe from @shutthekaleup because she said I'd dig them and she was right so I had to share it! ——— •1.5 C almond flour (I used @bobsredmill ) •1 C flour (oat flour, whole wheat flour, or GF flour... I used @bobsredmill all purpose GF flour ) •Pinch of salt •Maple syrup (4T if you like your scones semi-sweet, 5T if you like them a lil sweeter ) •1/3 cup oil (melted coconut, olive, or organic canola work well ) •1 tsp almond extract (optional but DELICIOUS ) •Organic figs, sliced Mix all ingredients except figs (unless you want figs in the batter, which would also be great ). Form into 9 balls and flatten slightly. Top with figs and bake at 350F for 20 minutes (a few mins less if you like them less crumbly ). Let cool for a few mins and enjoy! ——— You could swap in whatever other fruit you love for the figs too. Peaches, pears, apples, cherries, blueberries, strawberries, rhubarb... so many options!

made @shutthekaleup scones she just posted recently, but I didn’t have figs so I used peaches instead 🍑 I knew these would be good bc I love everything STKU, but I was shocked at how amazing they were and I’ll probably make them again in a few days haha. shoutout to my right hand that literally did all the work 👋🏽 left arm was busy carrying a little ham. dinner tonight is bacon, coconut jasmine rice - made this in the instant pot with 2C full fat coconut milk and 1C rice set for 12 minutes on rice mode. steamed broccoli, roasted paprika japanese sweet potatoes - cooked at 400 for about 35 minutes with avocado oil, pink salt, garlic powder and paprika. added broccoli sprouts and a little almond chive spread for dippin’, so good. grateful for the little things like walking to the market to buy these ingredients with both boys and whipping up this delicious dinner. it’s a little more chaotic at the ogden house but i wouldn’t want it any other way. hope you have a lovely evening friends! #shutthekaleup #realfood

Braised Lentils with Mushrooms and Kale from “Date Night In” by @ashrod Have you ever thought to make a creamy lentil dish? This recipe is one of my favorites in the book. It's made with homey ingredients yet is so complex and sophisticated in taste. I tend to forget how much flavor a splash of wine can add to a dish! Here, a dry white wine makes the mushrooms shine. Shallot and mushrooms are sauteed until golden and caramelized, then deglazed with a bit of alcohol. Heavy cream (I subbed homemade cashew cream ) is added along with cooked lentils ( @traderjoes prepared lentils are great if you're lazy like me ) and left to simmer for a short spell before tossing in a big handful of kale to steam until softened. We've added a fried egg on top per the recipe’s instructions, but felt like eating this over a bed of greens instead this time around. With or without the egg, it's so good and deliciously rich. Afterwards Tom said, "I could eat this every week". I'd even have this for breakfast on the weekends. 3 words: NUTTER BUTTER COOKIES don’t believe me? make them and then thank @rachaelsgoodeats for recreating this childhood favorite 🙌🏽 peanut butter, maple syrup, vanilla bean, almond flour and baking powder is all you need.. i won’t take any credit, this boy basically whipped them up himself. i just helped with the measuring and oven stuff. since being stuck at home with cole, i’ve been looking for fun little things for elliott and i to do. things that don’t involve us leaving the house. we had a blast making/eating these. after aj got home, he got to do the real fun stuff. they went to a museum while i cleaned and did laundry with cole strapped on my chest. teamwork baby 💯 #shutthekaleup
