I can't imagine anything more important than air, water, soil, energy and biodiversity. These are the things that keep us alive 🌎 But, one by one they can all disappear... 💔 . Do you guys know any organizations that people can donate to that are helping preserve the forests & rainforests that are currently suffering? I've been researching, but it'll be faster if you guys share what you know! Send me links or org names or tag me please!! 🤗 Peace & love 💕 . Here are a few to go follow for updates, check out, donate to: @rainforestactionnetwork @rainforestalliance @oxygenseven @amazonwatch @cnnclimate

I’m itching to get back to the Yaak area and feeling nostalgic about my days spent working on the Glacier book in general. So here’s a #tbt to sunset from Northwest Peak, the night I slept in the old lookout cabin on the summit during a thunderstorm and wondered just how lightning-proof the old structure was. #glaciermt

Take heed when you walk among giants. Old growth coastal redwood forests are indescribable in scale and intangible sensation, so here I go trying to describe it. For context, these trees are taller than 30 story buildings--some as tall as a 37 story building. So, maze-like paths of fallen trees create a high path above dense undergrowth--nature's boardwalk! 》《 I could go on and about redwoods (my favorite tree ), but I think my favorite factoid about them is as follows. They exist and thrive in specific conditions and rely heavily on coastal fog. As fog passes through their canopy, some water vapor is absorbed directly on the spot, but at the same time the vapor condenses on the needles and forms 'rain.' As this manufactured rain falls, the extensive root systems below get hydrated and cycle back up the tree's trunk. In fact, the capillary action of evapotranspiration is the limiting factor for how tall they can get! Essentially, they have maxed out the possible physical height a tree can get on Earth while still allowing for water to reach its canopy. 》《 Extensive research has been done on redwoods relationship with water and it is fascinating--I recommend looking into it further! We only have about 5% of our original old growth redwood forests left in North America, so appreciating and protecting what's left is incredibly important! . . . . . . . #california #redwoods #itsallyours #ourwild #whyihike #idhikethat #hellofrom #pnw #oregon #oregonexplored #bealpha #sonyalpha #earthoutdoors #wildernessculture #wildernessnation #wilderness

I’d rather sniff the pasture sage than listen to the din of Main Street. I want to play unshackled in the woods, to skip with the squirrels, howl among the wolves, scream with the marmots and whistle with the whiskey jacks. I have laid in meadows while a red fox hunted mice, seen fledging ravens learn to fly, shared ridges with grizzly bears, marveled at brilliant wildflowers. I’ve fallen into creeks, tumbled down scree slopes, feared climbing seemingly impossible mountain passes, had drying laundry pinched by wolf pups. . In owning little, I’ve had a beautiful life. .

↟ ↟ ↟ I’ve felt falls bite in the air the last few mornings and I am all sorts of giddy about it.⠀ ↟⠀ Mid-August is always so nostalgic for me. I am taken back to being in elementary school, walking with my sister for what felt like 10 miles to get picked up by the school bus, wearing a sweater and pants. Fast forward a couple hours into the day and it’s 100º.⠀ ↟⠀ Growing up in Colorado, I’ve always really embraced the changing of the seasons. But there’s something really special to me about the fade from summer to fall. ⠀ ↟⠀ What is your favorite season? ⠀ ↟⠀ Photo by: @treverseabout , circa 2015… the first year we discovered our secret aspen grove. ❤️⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #wildbynature #rei1440project #exploremore #mtntalk #funhogging #ourwild #happyhearted #getoutside #optoutside #gogetlost #wildernessculture #colorado

The cool thing about the last 3 days is that every single trail is something new. I feel like I’ve sort of lost that spark in me the last few weeks and haven’t been training for a race I have coming up in a couple weeks. It’s discouraging. I’m either running every single day or not running at all. The beauty of being in Colorado is that everything is new and feels exciting and it got me back into just loving being out there . I challenge you to run a trail you haven’t ran before. Where are you going this week that’s different then usual!? @salomonrunning #NewTrailChallenge #timetoplay #salomonsquad

The Minnesota Wild have hides Bill Guerin as their fourth general manager in team history. Guerin spent his first eight years as team executive with the Pittsburgh Penguins: His first three as player development coach, and the last five as assistant general manager, including the latter of the two also being GM of the Penguins’ AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Maybe it's me missing the mountains, but I am in such a mountain layers mood this week. And you don't get any better layers than here - the aptly named Smoky Mountains. ⠀ ::::⠀ If you ever find yourself out east - a likely scenario, given that the Great Smoky Mountains are the most visited park in the US (11,421,200 visits in 2018!! ) - here are some of the best hikes to see these dreamy layers:⠀ :⠀ *CLINGMAN'S DOME*⠀ For the easiest views - don't worry, the views are still phenomenal! - hike Clingman's Dome, a one-mile out and back on a paved walkway.⠀ : ⠀ *MOUNT LECONTE*⠀ For the some of the best but most challenging views, embark on the fourteen mile out and back hike to the Mount LeConte cliff tops via the Rainbow Falls Trail.⠀ :⠀ *CHIMNEY TOPS*⠀ For a short, steep, and sweet trail, take the four mile out and back, thousand plus foot elevation gain trail up to Chimney Tops - one of the most popular hikes in the area for sunset. The very top of the trail is currently closed (2019 ) due to fire damage, but there is a new lookout deck that has great views nonetheless.⠀ :⠀ *MOUNT CAMMERER*⠀ For an overnight trek, take the twelve mile out and back Low Gap Trail to Mount Cammerer, where you will be greeted by a fire lookout tower. Head back down for a longer day or take in sunset and then camp at backcountry site 35.⠀ :⠀ Save this mini hiking guide for when you visit this beautiful park! Have you been to the Smokies?⠀

It's pretty easy to not be an asshole if you don't want to be an asshole 😂 . *It just doesn't work for me, the pleasure is in the connection with another person...I know, I get the same reaction every time. Beauty Lake has become something of a recurring scene for me. Partly because of the perfect island in the middle and partly because its always so calm & peaceful. Unfortunately, there's really only one angle on public land to photograph from, so I've been going back less this year. I'll still visit when I'm around for special circumstances. I'm still waiting for a few perfect fall and winter scenes. #minnesotasmagazine #keepthenorthcold #thisismymn #moodyinminnesota #minnesotaexposure #awesome_photographers #visualambassadors #discoverearth #folkgood #earthgallery #natgeo #passionpassport #thegreatoutdoors #travelphotographer #chasinglight #intothewild #ourwild #wildernessculture #findyouradventure #publiclandowner #keepitpublic #outsidemagazine #livebravely #opt_outside #nakedplanet #artofvisuals #52WeeksofNature #NaturePhotographyCollective #ShareTheOutdoors

The Overlook | Maine. Believe it or not, sometimes I shoot in places that aren't Acadia. On this night, the sunset was shaping up to be a pretty nice one, and I decided to gamble and check out this viewpoint behind my new house. Hiked into the Sawtooth Wilderness for a few days to do a solo backpacking trip. Hiked 35+ miles across beautiful scenery and this quote repeated in my head hoping that our wild places will remain... wild “Never forget your contract with Mother Earth. And that is to protect her at all costs. That means to keep our air clean. To keep our water clean. Protect our land and ensure that she is always respected. If we grow, we harvest, and we take the gifts that she gives us, but we do not ever try to hurt her.” ❤️

WONDERLAND | Day 5 | 16.5 miles Thankfully, I woke up and my ankle was not bruised and its range of motion was good! We quickly hiked down to Longmire to pick up our resupply bucket for the remainder of the trail. The weather today was overcast and drizzly, and the scenery was nice, but not amazing. I listened to podcasts for most of the day to keep my energy and spirits up. We ended the relatively easy day with a super steep climb to our camp at Nickel Creek, foreshadowing the climbs for tomorrow. . . . . . . #goparks #findyourpark #nationalparkspartnership #the59parks #nationalparklife #nationalparkgeek #nationalparkservice #pnwonderland #optoutside #ourwild #lifeofadventure #hikingthru #wildernessculture #thisismyroute #merknmountains #goatworthy #getoutstayout #thruhikerthursday #washingtonexplored #seekmorewilderness #everydaywild #washingtontrails #alltrails #cascadiaexplored #hikingtheglobe #sheexplores #womenwhohike #thruhiking #wonderlandtrail @womenwhohike @she_explores @sheisthewild @girlswhohike @sunsetmag @nationalparkspartnership @natgeotravel @usinterior

°° solo travel is "easy" because it's literally all about you, just you. traveling + adventuring with someone else gets a bit more complicated. #adventurefeetfirst °° 🔸 partly because you have to agree on where to eat/sleep/explore. partly because you have to come to terms with conflicting comfort zones...in the food you eat, the pillows you crash into + the trails you explore. 🔸 I have ended up in a handful of "what the hell am I doing here?!" situations because I didn't have the know-how or guts to speak up. I've also drug other people well beyond their own adventure comfort zones, sometimes on accident + sometimes on purpose [sorta sorry]. 🔸 from all these experiences I've learned one valuable lesson...communicate! speak up before you've reached the point of no return. be okay with your limits before hitting the trails. accept the fact you may need to reign it in for someone else. 🔸 once you have that communication down [+ a little bit of compromise!] you'll find that special kind of joy that comes with sharing adventure with someone else. 🔸 🔸 🔸 PC // a precariously perched tripod. #adventurealways #borntotravel #nationalpark #nps #utahunique #utahisrad #desertvibes #dirtbaglife #findmeoutside #girlsonadventures #getoutandhike #hikingtheglobe #keepnaturewild #optoutside #ourwild #roamtheplanet #staywild #sheisnotlost #seetheworld #trailventure #trailchix #utahgram #ventureout #wearethewild #wanderlust #wandertheworld #wowutah #capitolreefnationalpark #capitolreef

You know what I find pretty wild about this view? Other than the fact that it's just dreamy, of course. Visible here within the fading layers heading of into the wilderness area in the distance is a significant chunk of major population center (the city of Bend ). If you look hard, you can see signs of development, but it's very refreshing when even sprawling communities are able to prioritize the natural beauty and view sheds around them in development. I mean, who would want to ruin this view?? . . . . . . #exploretocreate #pnwonderland #oregonexplored #oregon #hellofrom #bealpha #sonyalpha #ourwild #ventureout #sunset #wildernesstones #wildernessculture #discoverearth #bendoregon
