It doesn't get more outdoorsy than this! . Spent a fab day running, climbing, swimming, crawling, lifting and being electrified, all whilst soaked head to toe and caked in mud. Sounds a bit strange when you put it that way 😉 . #GetOutside #ordnancesurvey #osmapping #outdoorsgirl #running #toughmudder #mudrun #obstaclerace #adventure #explore #teamwork #active #fitness #healthy #happy #smile

I’ve done the Yorkshire Three Peaks three times, and each time I find I curse and love Whernside in equal measure. The long long long drudge up the hill is totally worth it for the views from the ridge. My favourite of the three peaks. ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ == I am dedicating September to some of my favourite places to spend time outside in Great Britain, in the hope that I might inspire you to explore this great island of ours a little more. We rode there as part of our road trip visiting the four compass points of mainland Great Britain, this being the most westerly. >> Favourite Places in Great Britain << ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ 20 PUZZLEWOOD | Wandering around Puzzlewood, a privately owned woodland in the Forest of Dean, you are transported somewhere else entirely – it feels a long way from even the UK let alone Gloucestershire. I was fortunate to be able to explore it when it was empty, the peace that radiated from the beauty of the bright green moss covered trees and rock was something I want more of. For me, sport is my time to play. Whether that be on the hill or in the water. @rachelsarahm captured that perfectly in her new vlog. . It was out first meeting, I do have a habit of meeting up with people from Instagram and having such a great time! We spent the day filming, laughing and having a great time "playing" with a fancy camera, a few GoPro's and a drone. . . Check out the Vlog on @rachelsarahm 's channel, find it in her bio link. You know I hate it when people (women especially ) thank their partners for helping them get to where they are. I’m always like “YOU GOT THERE YOURSELF OK” but to be really honest it would be rude of me not to recognise all that @michael fleming does for me. He took a fall three weeks ago whilst helping @rorysouthworth and I out with our film project, and is actually in physio this afternoon because he rolled it so bad. I didn’t *need* him to help me with the project but he really helped, a lot. Like he does with most things I do. So shout out to Michael for managing to get his fall on video, and Rory for running 20k instead of 10k whilst we tried to get this all filmed right. I just posted my behind the scenes vlog of the Swim, Run, Repeat - Part 1! I’ve been so busy lately moving house, working, single Mumming, managing (just ) my mental health that I’ve neglected my outdoor time. . . So with National GetOutside Day coming up on September 29th I am planning ways in which I can get outside as much as possible and take a friend with me. . . I’m planning on hiking up Twmpa (‘My Somewhere’ ), Mountain Biking in the Forest of Dean, walking up Fan Brycheiniog, Climbing at Wintours Leap, paddling the River Wye, Paddle boarding Clevedon Lake....and more. . . Let’s see if I can do 29 things over the next month!! I’m away in Bruges for the actual day so I thought if I can do as many activities over the next few weeks, taking someone with me every time, I can show my commitment to this amazing day and campaign. #getoutside #getoutsideday #outside4mentalhealth #nationalgetoutsideday #ordnancesurvey #osmapping #osleisure #wyevalley #breconbeacons #teamsouth

Podcast No 493 - One Hour Outside now live. Chatting with @splodz regarding her personal project which has grown to become a national mantra to spend 'One Hour Outside' each day. But how many of us actually do this? Do you, like me perhaps, tell yourself that one hour in the garden doing tasks is the same thing? Or one hour cleaning the car, doing some DIY, cutting the hedges, cutting the lawns, rushing to the station is actually one hours worth of quality time? Zoe Holmes of Spodzblogz has started this great simple idea in small steps for everyone to improve their life, by spending one hours worth of quality time outside. However the real challenge is to make that happen each day. Not just the weekend when you can squeeze it in. Wednesday Wisdom... . Sharp Edge is a classic grade 1 scramble on Blencathra of the Northern Fells of the Lake District. A knife edge arete with steep exposed sections on both sides. The scramble tops out with a 3 points of contact ascent of Foule Crag if done the traditional way from Scales Tarn. 'The bad step' pictured here can be particularly tricky in wet conditions, as it slopes away into 'The usual gully' so named as it is usually where Mountain Rescue are called out to on this route. Best tackled for the first time in dry clear conditions with no wind, it is an exhilirating scramble, and one that anyone with a good head for heights and a thirst for adventure should want to do ⛰👌 Have you tackled the edge? Day 5 of #thecoffeerun was just a short but eventful jaunt from Keswick to Threkeld where the @carvetiicoffee Roastery is based. . After realising a large section of the path we intended on taking was closed for maintenance (rookie error not to check ), we took an alternative route and ended up bumping into @emilys_life_in_the_lakes_2 0 on her morning run! Lovely to see Emily again! . We then had to wait for a wide truck to pass down a narrow road, before then helping a sheep loose who had got its head stuck in a fence! . Finally we made it to the @carvetiicoffee Roastery to be welcomed by Gareth, @roastermac and @byron odonnell. . After the well needed first Coffee, Gareth set about training me up to use the coffee machine and pour milk to have a go at making my own Latte! . Whilst @tampandwander and Gareth talked technical coffee talk, I headed downstairs to the Roastery to learn all about the roasting process with @roastermac I really experienced the whole process, from green bean to cup! . Massive thanks to @carvetiicoffee for showing us around and teaching me to make a coffee, great to see the team as always and I'm sure we will come together for future projects! . Now it's your turn to link up a coffee run, whether it's a 5k road run to ultra in the hills. . . *None of this trip was sponsored, it was just sharing a caffeine based adventure with friends, whilst we had a little bit of coffee gifted to us here and there, we paid for most of it and all of our food and accommodation. Over the summer the @carvetiicoffee team have become friends of ours and with our combined passion for outdoor adventure, coffee and the Lakes District it fuelled the idea to share such a link up project together. . . . 📷 @tampandwander #timetoplay #getoutside #osmapping #goniceplacesdogoodthings #trailrunning #runningmotivation #running #lakedistrict #lakedistrictnationalpark #landscape #thisismyadventure #adventureawaits #uncovertheuncommon #landscapephotography #salokids #hiking #optoutside #runnersofinstagram #runner #hillwalking #cafehopping #specialitycoffee #runnerspace #ukrunchat #findyourepic #runtoinspire #ordnancesurvey

Day 4 of #thecoffeerun brought incredible fell running once again, starting our run out of Cockermouth with @emilys_life_in_the_lakes_2 0 before taking the Hope Beck path up to Hopegill Head. The steep trod, encapsulates fell running style direct lines that can only be found in the UK. . The ridgeline between Hopegill Head and Grisedale Pike reminded me how lucky we are to have mountains like this in England, so runnable, yet also so technical, requiring focus at all parts of the descent. . The over 3km of descent off Grisedale Pike certainly tested the endurance of my quads, with it once again being so runnable but also so testing with scree and sharp rocks to maintain your focus on the descent. . After such amazing running on the Fells, my mind switched off for the road section, allowing me to process the past few days of running. We have ran almost the length of the National Park and seen so many peaks from so many angles! . Today is almost the victory lap, running from Keswick to Threkeld to the @carvetiicoffee Roastery. An experience I've been looking forward since we planned #thecoffeerun An easy day on the legs, as @tampandwander and I watch the roasting process, make coffee and most importantly, I get to have a go at Late Art! . . . . . 📷 @tampandwander #timetoplay #getoutside #osmapping #goniceplacesdogoodthings #trailrunning #runningmotivation #running #lakedistrict #lakedistrictnationalpark #landscape #thisismyadventure #adventureawaits #landscapephotography #salokids #hiking #optoutside #runnersofinstagram #runner #hillwalking #cafehopping #specialitycoffee #runnerspace #ukrunchat #findyourepic #runtoinspire #ordnancesurvey

The first time I went up Place Fell it was in shocking weather. The views were non existent. I could still see my feet which is the important thing right? I remember touching the trig column, turning around and walking back down feeling pretty uninspired (and wet ) by it all. I've been up a couple times since then in varying conditions, but Saturday's trip up to the summit was the best to date. The views back to Brothers Water below are simply stunning. It's a shame you lose these views from the summit, which is another 500m on from the ascent up on the plateau, but with the Helvellyn range over to the West you're still blessed with fantastic views. A great fell to bag ⛰👌

Day 3 of #thecoffeerun brought not only the best Fell running of the trip, but also the worst sections of wet ground and road! . Our feet suffered yesterday on the longest of the sections. We were joined by @fellfoodie at Borrowdale as we started from the YHA, Ascending pretty much instantly up onto the North Western Fells, running the ridgeline from Dale Head to Robinson before saying goodbye to @fellfoodie and descending over very wet terrain into Buttermere. With a quick refuel at the Tea shop we pushed on along mostly road sections in an attempt to save time. But wet feet and road was definitely a bad combination and our feet were left soft and sore. . Don't get me wrong I'm loving this trip and my body is fine really (a little temporary discomfort ) it's just I disliked, like most people, having wet feet for so many hours 😂🤷‍♂️ . Today starts at @sixandmoon cafe, the reason we have come so far out of the National Park just to go back in later today! We will be meeting up with @emilys_life_in_the_lakes_2 0 and @bumblebarnes for a coffee before heading back through the fields to head over Grisedale Pike and into Keswick! . . #timetoplay #getoutside #osmapping #goniceplacesdogoodthings #trailrunning #runningmotivation #running #lakedistrict #lakedistrictnationalpark #landscape #thisismyadventure #adventureawaits #uncovertheuncommon #landscapephotography #salokids #hiking #optoutside #runnersofinstagram #runner #hillwalking #cafehopping #specialitycoffee #runnerspace #ukrunchat #findyourepic #runtoinspire #ordnancesurvey

Not a bad spot for a first wild swim eh!? #pano #landscape #photography #triathlontraining #tri #swim #bike #run #train #trainhard #goal #outdoors #active #lifestyle #passion #withgrangersyoucan #osmapping #outdoorhero

[1\3] Its now only a couple of weeks until Andy's Ironman 70.3. It doesnt seem all that long ago that there was 160 days to go, but many hours of training in extreme heat and torrential rain will hopefully be a strong enough base to complete the course in good time. #pano #landscape #photography #triathlontraining #tri #swim #bike #run #train #trainhard #goal #outdoors #active #lifestyle #passion #withgrangersyoucan #osmapping #outdoorhero

>> Favourite Places in Great Britain << ⠀ ⠀ 05 RUNSWICK BAY | A fairly recent discovery for me, thanks to a friend who took me fossil hunting there a couple of years ago. ⠀ ⠀ I am dedicating September to some of my favourite places to spend time outside in Great Britain, in the hope that I might inspire you to explore this great island of ours a little more. National #GetOutsideDay Sunday 29th September 2019 Save the date for Ordnance Survey's 2nd National Get Outside Day. This year we're encouraging more people to try an outdoor activity to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. The benefits to our health of being outdoors are well proven. Let this be your springboard to a healthier lifestyle and encourage a friend or family member to tag along too. Visit the website for ideas, and keep an eye out for an event I'll be leading on the day 👍 https://getoutside.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/will-you-go-out-with-me/

I'm sure it's been asked a million times, but would you live here? This cottage at the foot of Buachaille Etive Mòr is actually owned by the Scottish national trust and is ever so popular with 'grammers' from around the world! Still wouldn't mind locking myself away in there for a while 👌 #GetOutside #osmapping #ordnancesurvey #capturingbritain #visitscotland #hiddenscotland #ig_scotland #instascotland #thisisscotland #visualsofscotland icu_scotland #thisismyadventure #visualofbritain #theplacetobe #ukpotd #visitbritain #ig_united_kingdom #photosofengland #wanderlust #canonphotography

#thecoffeerun project - a run linking up the best coffee shops in the Lake District. Why, because they are there. . How did this even come about? Well, whilst who's idea this all was is still in debate, @tampandwander mentioned she would quite like a run project about the same time as I was about to do my After Work Long Distance Trail Project. I said about linking up Coffee Shops in the same style as how I often link up swim spots, climbs and scrambles, with that the idea for the coffee run was established. . A plan was formulated and shops were picked with the help of our good friends at @carvetiicoffee We knew we would also want to create coffee on the fells as we ran so @carvetiicoffee hooked us up with some small bags of coffee and an Aeropress setup to brew on the fells! . From Friday we will be running, it will take a few days (it's far and there are lots of epic trails to enjoy between each coffee shop ) but I'll keep you all updated! If you could all wish us great weather that would be great please! . . . 📷 @tampandwander #timetoplay #getoutside #osmapping #goniceplacesdogoodthings #trailrunning #runningmotivation #running #lakedistrict #lakedistrictnationalpark #landscape #thisismyadventure #adventureawaits #uncovertheuncommon #landscapephotography #salokids #hiking #optoutside #runnersofinstagram #runner #hillwalking #salomonsquad #salomonfamily #runnerspace #ukrunchat #findyourepic #runtoinspire #ordnancesurvey

My type of holiday: being out in the sun all day, eating as much as I can and running for 5 days across the Lake District! . From Friday I'll be running North from Windermere in the Lake District, heading deeper into the Lakes to make my way up to Cockermouth before heading back down to Keswick and finishing up at @carvetiicoffee Roastery in Threkeld! Where they have promised to teach me to make an espresso based drink with the latte art to match! How cool! *Genuinely excited to use one of the big machines. No one lets me on the big machines. . This will be @tampandwander "s first multiday and my ninth multiday trip so I think it's mostly my fault if anything goes wrong! We are going fully lightweight, just our day running packs with a toothbrush and a mini towel. We will be staying at hostels in order to actual go that lightweight and still have some luxury to the trip! . I'm most looking forward to the simplicity of waking up and just having to run each day, knowing all I have to do is to make it to the next location! . I'll be putting up Instagram Stories each day to follow, so starting from Thursday evening you can follow along the adventure! #thecoffeerun 📷 @trailrunner_85 #timetoplay #getoutside #osmapping #withgrangersyoucan #trailrunning #runningmotivation #running #lakedistrict #lakedistrictnationalpark #landscape #thisismyadventure #adventureawaits #uncovertheuncommon #landscapephotography #salokids #hiking #optoutside #runnersofinstagram #runner #hillwalking #salomonsquad #salomonfamily #runnerspace #ukrunchat #findyourepic #runtoinspire #ordnancesurvey

I've hardly done any wildcamping this year as I've been so busy with other things! Here's a (late ) throwback to a fiery chilled out evening somewhere in the Lakes . Anyone hazard a guess to the fell I'm camped on? ⛰⛺🌅 Have a great weekend everyone 👍
