Emerging compositional studies for a flagship workplace in one of the core cities of the Northern Powerhouse. This project will be ‘of the land’ and embedded within a rich urban topography. It is intended to echo the aspirations of its host city; a building with super flexible high grade office space, with a rich provision of mixed-use, cultural emphasis to the ground, connected to its park setting and open to the public. Inflections in the form will provide long ranging views across the city scape and immediate verdant landscape. A building of character. Playful, yet of strength. Bold and inclusive. Resistant and sculpted for the future. www.morrisand.company ______________________ #morrisandcompany #mocoarchitects #moco_voices #achangeofstate

Shot at Morris+Company Posted @withrepost@moco_arch Nine Elms Park is a mixed use masterplan organised around a Linear Park, Plot E lies at the heart of the masterplan, in a prominent position facing the park. The scheme provides 297 mixed tenure residential units ranging from studios to family accommodation. The plot consists of four residential blocks joined by a shared plinth, Gort Scott Architects have designed one of the blocks and Morris+Company have designed and lead coordination of the rest of the plot. A continuous swale surrounds the plot creating a green landscape buffer between the public realm and the homes. Each block has separate residential entrances that are clearly expressed on the primary frontage, the park facing blocks are accessed through a series of bridges. A generous triple height entrance in E1 creates a focal point, allowing visual connection into the green central courtyard of Plot E which will be shared by residents. The buildings follow a tripartite composition with a clear distinction of Base, Middle and Top. Reconstituted stone and brickwork are used as the primary materials for Plot E, taking inspiration from the context and its rich industrial history. Each block employs its own unique material palette which contributes to creating a strong and differentiated identity for each block. www.morrisand.company ______________________ #morrisandcompany #mocoarchitects #moco_voices #achangeofstate

Wildernesse Restaurant has been #shortlisted in the 2019 #woodawards Wildernesse Restaurant is a timber-vaulted, metal-skinned shared dining space for a new retirement community. The site is within the Wildernesse Conservation Area and adjacent to a grade II listed building. During the 19th century a conservatory sat to the north-east corner of the grade II listed mansion. The new restaurant aims to reinstate this pavilion typology, creating an exquisite dining space with the transparency of a traditional glasshouse. Internally, CLT arches sit atop a grid of glulam columns. The arches define large glazed openings and a central elevated lantern houses the open kitchen – creating a space filled with light and expansive views across the estate. The use of minimal repeated elements is a key concept for the construction of the restaurant. Internally, all the timber structure is left exposed. @moco_arch have submitted planning for EGHQ, for the third phase of the Embassy Gardens masterplan at Nine Elms for @ballymore EGHQ is a commercial led development, creating around 300,000 sqft of high-quality workspace directly opposite the new US Embassy. The project responds to complex site constraints creating a series of shifted blocks which break down the mass into considered and elegant proportions. Seven separate terrace levels are conceived to enrich the office space and provide tenants with impressive views of the river Thames. The design centres around bold, landscape proportion windows, allowing for wide and uninterrupted views. A rich material palette of brick piers and concrete lintels give the building solidity and weight, with subtle shifts in material tone used between the blocks, responding to the surrounding context. www.morrisand.company ______________________ #morrisandcompany #mocoarchitects #moco_voices #achangeofstate

Earlier today, the project team for the Central Somers Town regeneration presented the proposals to @nlalondon as part of their morning lecture programme. The team, consisting of @camdencouncilnsw @hayhurstandco @adamkhanarch @dsdha_architecture @drmmarchitects_studio and @moco_arch had the difficult task of compressing an extremely focussed, collaborative and dynamic design process into just five minute segments for each of the building plots. This is a project in which the collective of several practices is of significantly greater value than any individual or practice and was defined by an ethos of continuous evolution through immersive, open and iterative methodologies. During the evolution of the site wide strategy, the design process of each plot evolved simultaneously whilst DSDHA choreographed the whole. And all of this played out in front of a wide stakeholder engagement process. The presentations this morning gave a glimpse of the energy and endeavour our practice invested in this amazing team and community lead scheme, our sites being three plots identified for a variety of housing typologies. A project of accommodation hugging the landscape; of housing coming to the ground in some cases and community facilities in other cases; a project of thresholds and entrances; a project of interfaces between the characteristics and approach of each architect to create rich relationships; and a project which has been designed to echo the grain, texture and form of the site. www.morrisand.company ______________________ #morrisandcompany #mocoarchitects #moco_voices #achangeofstate

#Londonon_Paris #OnionSoup @Londonon_ @Londonfestivalofarchitecture #LFA2019 ______________________ Londonon Presents - Soupe à l'oignon Food is at the very core of our being, yet is something which is increasingly taken for granted. It seems the further we 'progress' as a society the further removed we become from the food we consume. What am I eating, how did it get here, how was it prepared, how was it grown, and by whom - questions obvious and celebrated in some parts of the world, seldom asked in others. The food we eat has a life that starts well before the supermarket aisles we frequent, and has effects reaching well beyond the plates that are put before us. This cycle of Londonon engages with our own consumption and the complexities inherent in all food. A simple dish of food is deconstructed and reassembled as a series of vignettes - collectively telling a story of the dish through key ingredients used in its creation. #TEMPORARILYHOME @Londonfestivalofarchitecture #LFA2019 ______________________ Homelessness in the UK is rising. Morris+Company strongly believe in the ‘Housing First’ strategy and that building more social and truly affordable housing is the solution to this deepening crisis. But critically, we also see that the delivery of temporary emergency accommodation is fundamental in order to ensure that people at their most vulnerable are placed in adequately designed, safe and secure accommodation, without being displaced from their borough, local school, friendships and support networks. - New-build specialist facilities are a rarity, which means that in their place, rogue conversions of non fit-for-purpose existing buildings are created to meet demand, often resulting in sub-standard accommodation. Efforts to procure new, purpose-build accommodation are hindered by the current planning process due to a lack of centralised guidance, legislation and design codes for this specialist use. - Typical housing standards may not apply if a space is designed for a short period of stay, but in that scenario, what are the key ingredients that can offer a temporary home? Morris+Company will host a cross-disciplinary panel discussion to question what constitutes the key driving factors for the provision of this specialist form of accommodation in London today. - We will be joined by a range of leading industry professionals, charities, policy makers, developers and designers for a panel discussion responding to the question ‘Temporarily Home. Should London be delivering purpose-build emergency accommodation for the homeless?’. - The evening will be hosted and chaired by @moco_arch and feature a host of experts speakers including; Jennie Coombs Be First; Joanne Drew Enfield Council; Nisha Backory St Mungo’s; Phil Kerry New Horizon Youth Centre; Chris Hildrey Hildrey Studio and ProxyAddress; Polina Pencheva Morris+Company. - Tickets https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/temporarily-home-tickets-61090327815?aff=ebdshpsearchautocomplete Graphics @bob_design_ltd www.morrisand.company ______________________ #morrisandcompany #mocoarchitects #moco_voices #achangeofstate

Our project #EnergyHub for @lendlease has been included on the New London Awards Shortlist, which features London’s best new and proposed projects of the highest design quality which make a positive contribution to their surroundings and life in the capital. #EnergyHub has been shortlisted for the New London Awards in the Mixed-use category. The scheme was influenced and inspired by its unique context, a confluence between a major inner city regeneration scheme #ElephantPark of global significance and a deeply rooted local community of shops, terraced streets, schools and community infrastructure. The project is a uniquely complex hybrid of contrasting programmes which includes a heat and power generating energy centre supporting upwards of 5,000 homes, wrapped into a perforated skin and articulated form which accommodates an early years nursery and a comedy club which both face onto a newly realised pocket park. Support this project by voting it for it as your People’s Choice favourite #NLAwards19 @nlalondon www.morrisand.company ______________________ #morrisandcompany #mocoarchitects #moco_voices #achangeofstate

A complex and constrained site, hemmed on three sides by #royalfreehospital and #rosaryrcprimaryschool the scheme features a richly detailed skin of rose pink architectural stone and tumbled red brick with inclined lintels and increasing deep splayed chamfers as the building ascends in height. Responding to historically rich surrounding conservation areas, this highly ambitious scheme which has been in evolution from concept through delivery for almost five years. Photograph was taken by the brickwork contractor #EHSmith who have lavished attention, detail, energy and love on this project. The experience of London’s historic Docklands is one of a palpable sense of emptiness and absence in stark contrast to its history; a legacy of trade, culture and commerce, of trading ships, masts and water born transport. Of a past in which the interaction between communities was on the surface of the water, along its edges and through its vast warehouse architecture. Through direct commission, we are currently engaged in a research project to reconnect inhabitants and visitors to the vast bodies of water which pervade. Our vision; to find appropriate architectural forms which draw upon the forms of trading ships, barges and trawlers, whilst integrating new contemporary programmes of leisure, work and trade, and city dwelling. Using ground breaking aquatectural technology, our emerging strategic approach fuses flexible and adaptable outcomes, to enable continuous and progressive evolution. Thus creating a non static, dynamic water based community, and one which can integrate a broad variety of vessels and more semi permanent moored structures. In addition pontoons and rigs seek to extend the ground based public realm out onto an every changing horizontal plane which can be used for leisure and education activities. www.morrisand.company ______________________ #morrisandcompany #mocoarchitects #moco_voices #achangeofstate

The experience of London’s historic Docklands is one of a palpable sense of emptiness and absence in stark contrast to its history; a legacy of trade, culture and commerce, of trading ships, masts and water born transport. #FEEDINGTHECITY @Londonfestivalofarchitecture #LFA2019 #VeganCity ______________________ Food is our every day. It literally shapes us and the cities in which we live. It brings people together, nourishes our bodies and fosters social and cultural ties with our neighbours. Yet it’s process of production, preparation, storage, transportation and waste are one of the most environmentally destructive and socially divisive. - Our cross disciplinary panel discussion will interrogate what recalibrating the importance of food in our approach to designing cities could mean, and what methods could be used to achieve this. - The evening will be chaired by @joevelomo , founding director of @moco_arch and feature a host of experts speakers including Anna Taylor #londonfoodboard #foodfountain , Dejan Mitrovic of @department22uk , Maria Smith of @interrobanglondon , Arthur Potts Dawson of @chefsmanifesto and the #SDG2AdvocacyHub , and @ellyward_studio of @SITE_london Graphics @bob_design_ltd www.morrisand.company ______________________ #morrisandcompany #mocoarchitects #moco_voices #achangeofstate
