Happy Sunday friends!🌼 - I have been a little MIA lately. Life has just gotten busy!I have been trying to rest my body a little because I am tired of being in pain and I am transitioning and trying to get the hang of a new job. This past week I have been wanting to post but just havent had the time or energy once my day is over. I also didnt know what to post about! Then I found this quote. This quote really speaks to me because I personally struggle with getting out of my comfort zone. I actually am getting out of my comfort zone with this new job.(so I'm proud of myself ). It is a completely different environment than what I am used to and honestly I am loving every bit of it. You can’t target fat loss. What? She said what? Well ... you can’t. Fat stores are fat stores, your body just holds onto certain areas longer than others. Your health and fitness goals are going to take time. Another hard truth: cardio isn’t the best exercise for fat loss. Is it important? Yes. Should it be supplemental? Yes. In a good #strengthtraining workout your heart rate will stay elevated (it does with any form of exercise ). But unlike with cardio, strength training builds muscle and muscle cells burn calories, which boosts your metabolism. Weight training will completely change the composition of your body. Ladies, I promise you won’t get bulky. I never wanted to look “manly”. But I was really just uneducated about fitness in general. I thought I could lift some 5 pound dumbbells and do air squats for the rest of my life and get the “toned” look I wanted. When the truth is, if you’re not in a progressive overload you WILL plateau and you WILL get frustrated and give up because you stopped seeing results. So try lifting heavy weight for a couple weeks and add in a day of cardio if you just can’t give it up. Why do I go into every lift like it’s my heaviest lift weight? • • • For me no matter the amount on the squat rack, dumbbell weight I pick up for shoulder press, or weight i choose on leg extension to do, I treat it as if it’s my heaviest! This is my mindset because I want to always stay in this mindset. Repetition and commitment to movement and form is why I continually do this. The left photo popped up on my Snapchat memory as I was walking into the gym. I took that photo 2 years ago, that was taken during the start of such a pivotal moment in my life. I had just started taking control of my life and putting myself first, my mental and physical health that is. * I decided since I was ironically wearing the same leggings I would take a side by side to see what has changed in 2 years. Externally and internally I have continued to push against my physical and mental limitations to forge growth in ways I only dreamt of. 2 years from today I hope I can look back at this version of me and think of all ways I’ve continued to grow myself. It’s a marathon not a race, and I’m here to see it through. 💖

⏰ Time Management ⏰ probably the most frequent question I get asked is how do I find time to go to the gym 5-6x/week, track macros without prepping, get As in med school, and still sleep 7 hours😴 . I wish I could give some magic formula but the truth is I prioritize those things and give up on others: going out on weekends, hanging out during the week, and even going on IG every day 😕 if it’s important to you and will help you reach you’re goals, you’ll make time 👊🏽 . Second, keep to a ROUTINE! I wake up at 8 everyday unless there’s a test, listen to lectures til 5, go to gym, then take notes and study til 1 AM and repeat. Every 👏🏼 day 👏🏼 . Nowww a little physique update. Still working on the glutesss and slowly reversing. I’m doing no cardio still and getting 8,000-10000 steps most days. Gym 5-6x/week, and macros 295C/70F/130P at a solid 131lbs when I checked today 😊

When I first started lifting I was pretty much winging it in the gym and doing whatever workouts i felt like. And i only went like 1x a week 😂 Then I found a program called BBG and did that for quite a while. BBG got me into the structure of working out consistently but it was very high-intensity/cardio heavy and i wasn’t seeing the muscle gain I wanted. It also took a toll on my body and joints. So I switched to weightlifting and THAT is where I found my true passion. Lifting heavy weights and seeing the difference in my body was incredible. And while I may try other things, weightlifting will always be what I stay consistent with. . BUT! My whole point in saying this is while i love weightlifting and working out in a gym by myself, it took me time to find something I really wanted to stay consistent with. And you’re allowed to love whatever activity you want..group classes? Go for it. HIIT? Running? Yoga? Silks? Walking? Hiking? Swimming? Combo of all of them? Whatever it is, you go for it. And if you haven’t found your thing yet, that’s ok! Keep trying until you do! Because if you don’t LOVE what you’re doing, then there’s no way you’ll stay consistent and it’ll be miserable for you. . A few days, no post huh? I made a promise to myself a while ago that Instagram would never impact my mental health. And i realized earlier this week that I wasn’t holding true to my promise. I was doing things that weren’t like me - restricting food, going to bed hungry, beating myself up over the smallest shit. And I was wondering what in the world is going on? I talked to my therapist for a while and she helped me come to the realization that I was playing “keeping up with the influencer” instead of just focusing on myself. So I stepped back for a few days to reevaluate what I need. And today I feel much more like myself than I have in a while. Earlier this month I made a post about really pushing myself to see “what was possible” before my vacation. And the truth is, I have been pushing myself for a while - but sometimes just a little too far. So over the last few days, I’ve worked on shifting my focus on how I feel instead of how I look. And it felt so damn good. I took 4 days off from the gym. I ate candy, pizza, funnel cakes and more. I let myself breathe. I stopped sucking in my f’n stomach. I stopped freaking out over my bloat. I just stopped. And through that process, I remembered how fun it just was to just live. A healthy relationship with food is more important than abs. Loving myself is more important than my likes on Instagram. And I don’t have to keep up with anyone else but myself. I am so thankful I have the self awareness to realize when I am not respecting myself and my boundaries. I am so thankful I have a therapist who basically tells me to cut the shit. And I am thankful I have this safe place to come back to once I’ve got my shit together. And that’s my sermon for the day. Love you guys to the moon and and back.

Haven't been posting so much ... life has been hitting me left and right...with work..with my knee that is still killing me. Not going to the gym often .kids...etc.. - Unfortunately work is going to come to an end...as much that I dont want to. I have to. I choose to move to japan with my husband soon..and its something that I wasnt sure about, but i rather have my family be together then to live without my annoying love of life for two year.
