The amount of commitment we make to remain in pain or drama or distraction just so we don't have to hear the inner self and sit in our moment is laughable. I spent so long engaging in relationship drama, friend drama, work drama and I know now it's because I was trying to fill the quiet and distract my brain a smuch as I could from what I really needed to hear and feel. Someone needs to hear this today. There are a lot of feelings that sting. Rejection stings something awful because the message we ultimately receive is that something is wrong with us. After the sting, many of us walk around with welts, pain, heat and itchiness, replaying scenarios in our heads a lot longer than is probably healthy for us. The pain of the sting can last for years. I am all about feeling our way through to the other side but I also believe that there comes a time where we need to do the work to remove the stinger, slather ourselves in Calamine, apply some ice packs and release ourselves from the pain. When we are patient with ourselves and surrender to what is, we can almost always look back and see that the rejection was steering us away from something not meant for us. That it said very little about who we are and a lot more about who someone else is. It is the messy path of growth, transformation and living our story. It refocuses, releases and refines us. It gives us ample opportunities to be redirected back into our purpose over and over again. Trust it and trust yourself. You have what it takes. Hand over heart. Deep breaths. One step at a time.

J’ai pendant longtemps rejeté la méditation, je ne tenais pas en place, je ne voulais pas me confronter à moi-même. Durant ces quatre dernières années, les plus difficiles de ma vie, j’ai tenté à de multiples reprises la méditation et ce fut toujours un échec. Je me sentais trop mal, les angoisses revenaient, les images surtout. Je me disais simplement que cette pratique n’était pas pour moi alors que ce n’était juste pas le bon moment. Comment se recentrer sur soi-même, sur son souffle quand le corps n’est que douleur, quand l’esprit vous torture ? C’est impossible. Il a fallu que j’aille mieux, que mes traumatismes se dissipent grâce à d’autres méthodes pour enfin découvrir les bienfaits de la méditation. C’est une deuxième phase pour moi : la reconstruction. Avant cela j’étais en ruines. Pendant quatre très longues années. Je me reconstruis mais pas avec les mêmes pierres, pas avec le même ciment qu’avant, l’architecte c’est moi ! Je ne me suis jamais sentie autant moi-même que depuis ces derniers mois. J’y vais à tâtons et la méditation s’avère être un précieux allié. Je pratique tous les jours sans exception, entre 10 et 20 minutes. C’est parfois tumultueux selon les jours et mon humeur mais il ne faut rien attendre, juste prendre le temps, juste être là avec soi-même. Méditer dans la nature, s’arrêter au bord d’un chemin et fermer les yeux, se concentrer sur les sons, les odeurs et profiter juste quelques minutes c’est précieux, essentiel à mes yeux. Et vous ? How often do you take 5 minutes in the morning ? Or 5 minutes out of your day- no phone? No emails. No distractions? 📵⁣ ⁣ One of the things that makes my anxiety spiral is when I’m going a million miles an hour. And even if I’m getting sleep, I’m not necessarily getting headspace 🤯. Getting back at 10/11pm, going to bed, jumping up the next morning and going to work? We need to SLOW DOWN 🚷and take some time either to physically slow down the central nervous system (yoga, breathing, a slow walk ), or to set intentions for the day (journal, meditate ), or to clear your head so you can simply think straight (bringing yourself back to the here and now ). 🧘🏼‍♀️🌳🌷⁣ ⁣ I was really grateful when @dorsetcereals reached out for me to be part of their #breakfastontheslow campaign as this is definitely something I try to incorporate into my routine ❤️🥄. Anyone that comes regularly to my classes knows how much I LOVE to work on good old deep hip openers whether in dynamic, slow flow or YIN - previous to teaching yoga I worked in offices for nine years, I know first hand the adverse affect on the body. As a yoga teacher how do you stay creative? . I get asked this a lot by students. The 2 ways I stay creative and inspired are my own movement practise and constantly learning, reading, questioning and exploring. . When I move it’s a body lead experience. I am not thinking about what is coming next, Instead I am letting the body guide me to the sweet and rich locations via enquiry and curiosity. . I always say to my students, listen to your body with every sense, be curious, ask questions ‘what happens if I do this’ ‘where could I put this foot, hand, leg, breath to lead me in to a new experience’ How can I allow myself to FEEL more? Forget about what it looks like, because I can promise you, that if you are moving from the inside out, that sweet inner liquid cellular matrix intelligence, whatever you are doing will look BEAUTIFUL, All of my classes and flows are born from rolling around and letting my body take me to interesting places, then I might find a little nugget, a movement that’s just oh so sweet and then a new flow is born around that moment. That’s how you stay creative, because the only creativity you can offer is born from your own enquiry, from your own inner experience. ❤️ . This is sped up by a trillion! You are going to think I’m mad but my orchid flowers are starting to go in the last few days which somehow put a little fear in me that it was a bad sign. This was before yesterday’s scan. Rationally I know these can’t bloom forever and they started at Easter!! So they’ve had a long run, more than normal. What is it that all rational thinking goes out the window on this journey. Anyway today I’m very grateful that these beauties were with me for so long reassuring and cheering me on in this cycle. Now wouldn’t it be weird if they bloomed again when the baby is due in March?? Let’s see....
