Well Instagram, you know I always save my favorites and ... this is actually my favorite shot that I took in Zimbabwe. I know that I have pretty unusual tastes with my photography but often you guys surprise me and agree on my random choices. Haha. So, what do I love about this? Well, I took it in the elephant hide in Hwange National Park and that hide is super challenging! There’s a lot happening and you’re so close and the elephants are all over the place 🐘🐘 and it’s hard to keep your cool! 😩😩😩 I had two stints in the hide, the first one was 2 hours and the second was 3 hours. I was down my favorite lens, my 40-150 f2.8, and I was struggling to get anything I loved or anything I thought was unique. It was the middle of the day both times and the light was bright and uninteresting. I took this photo 2 1/2 hours into my second stint in the hide, and here are the things that turned around for me ... 1 ) I was finally able to keep my shit together enough to think about my compositions 2 ) One of my tour guests, @jubileescarlett , lent me his 40-150 3 ) I had started to use the foreground grass, the top of the hide and anything I could think of to create blur and interest and, 4 ) I timed it all perfectly with the action, the bokeh and the water. It might have taken me 2,000 shots and 4 1/2 hours but I nailed it. 😂😂 I hope you like it too? @TourismZimbabweOfficial #AWorldOfWonders #VisitZimbabwe #ResponsibleTravel #SustainableTravel #ZimBathWay #AWorldOfWonders #VisitZimbabwe #ImveloSafariLodges #HwangeNationalPark #ZimParks #Elephant #OlympusInspired #Traveller_Au #GirlsLoveTravel #ASTW #EverydayAfrica #ExploreAfrica #TravelAfrica #VisitAfrica #Travel_Captures

Cindy Cat! This was such a highlight for me, coming across this gorgeous girl and her young cub in Hwange National Park. Experts estimate that fewer than 7,000 wild cheetah are left in the world, and seeing one is super special. I particularly like Cindy’s story because she is a survivor, having been trapped in a wire snare when she was younger but luckily being darted and mended. Humans don’t interfere with the wildlife in Zimbabwe unless there is a man-made injury to an endangered animal. Cindy then went on to have her own cubs and, although only one survived, she is thriving! Group 1 were fortunate enough to have two lengthy encounters with the duo and we fell in love. I just thought you guys would appreciate a shot of two male lions affectionately nuzzling heads! Argh, so cute!! We spotted these guys in Hwange National Park and ended up following them all the way to the train tracks and over to the Bomani Concession. At one point they were only a meter away from our safari vehicle! The thing that I love about safari is that you literally never know what you’re going to get. You head out, filled with hope, and you might see cheetah, you might see lion or you might have an ellie day 🐘. But regardless of what you find, it’s always magical. 💫🦁💛 @TourismZimbabweOfficial #AWorldOfWonders #VisitZimbabwe #ImveloSafariLodges #Hwange #Reflection #HwangeNationalPark #ZimParks #Zimbabwe #ZimBathWay #WildlifePlanet #AfricanAnimals #OlympusInspired #WildlifeConservation #Traveller_Au #GirlsLoveTravel #ASTW #EverydayAfrica #ExploreAfrica #WildlifeWarrior #Sunrise_Pics #SunriseLover #TravelAfrica #VisitAfrica #Lion #LionLove #AnimalKingdom #Travel_Captures #CamelthornLodge

Now THIS was an interesting sunset! The best of both tours put together and predicted by me! Who knew, eight years of photography have finally allowed me to predict nice light! 😳 We were in Hwange National Park, which was due to close at 6PM, and I saw the clouds lining up nicely and a gap on the horizon so I asked our guide to zip us over to the Bomani Concession, where we can stay as late as we want. We shot this with gin and tonics in hand! 🍹😂 I’ve got a great story that’s just gone live on the Bumi Hills Foundation and when I decided to run tours in Zimbabwe, and I also have a link in my bio still about responsible travel. It’s a hot topic right now. ❤️ @TourismZimbabweOfficial #AWorldOfWonders #VisitZimbabwe #ImveloSafariLodges #Hwange #BomaniLodge #HwangeNationalPark #ZimParks #Zimbabwe #ZimBathWay #WildlifePlanet #OlympusInspired #WildlifeConservation #Traveller_Au #GirlsLoveTravel #ASTW #EverydayAfrica #ExploreAfrica #WildlifeWarrior #TravelAfrica #VisitAfrica #AnimalKingdom #Travel_Captures #CamelthornLodge #NatGeoAfrica #Sunset_Lovers #Sunset #AfricanSunsets #🌞 #YourShotPhotographer

[Please weigh in, I’d love your opinion ❤️] I have a really interesting topic that I want to bring up today, for those that are interested? I want to talk about responsible travel! This is something that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately, especially with my tours in Zimbabwe and the fact that I micromanaged every aspect of organisation to ensure my groups were traveling well. I’m also working with Kathmandu to promote their take on the topic, a new documentary series that you can check out in my Instagram bio this week. Basically, it’s about travelers actually considering their impact on the places they visit, with an intention to have a more authentic experience. It’s a big topic, and one that all travelers really should know more about. So check out the series, and let me know in the comments what your opinion is of responsible travel? Is the way that you travel helpful or harmful? For me, I always want to support local businesses and local people when I travel, and I’m very conscious of spreading the money around to well researched operators. This shot was taken in Hwange National Park, a destination I picked because I know the importance of tourism dollars in this part of the world. I supported Imvelo Safari Lodges, because of the work they do with the local communities and the jobs they offer to local people. How else can we let our travel intentions match our actions? @KathmanduGear #HelpfulOrHarmful #ResponsibleTravel #SustainableTravel #ZimBathWay #AWorldOfWonders #VisitZimbabwe #ImveloSafariLodges #HwangeNationalPark #ZimParks #Elephant

Nice work ladies!!! #Repost @int anti.poaching.foundation ・・・ FIELD REPORT: Recently the International Anti-Poaching Foundation’s (IAPF ) Akashinga rangers intercepted a team of three suspected poachers entering Zimbabwe’s World Heritage Listed Mana Pools National Park armed with cyanide, axes and knives. Further information passed to the Akashinga team resulted in a joint operation with the Minerals Flora & Fauna Unit (MFFU ) of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP ), netting the arrest of a fourth suspect who allegedly supplied the cyanide to the would be poachers. Cyanide is sometimes used to kill elephants and other wildlife without force as it is cheap and quiet to use. It is placed near watering holes, on oranges or rock salt where the unsuspecting animals will be baited. The suspect being implicated of supplying the cyanide works in Mberengwa’s mining industry. Miners use cyanide concentrate during the separation process of gold from bulk ores. It exists in two forms, gas and crystal (see small white ‘balloons’ confiscated in photo above ). This inhumane method of poaching works quickly, as cyanide cuts off the oxygen supply. Cyanide use in poaching is an ongoing problem in Zimbabwe so these types of arrests are a significant ‘win’ for wildlife. Cyanide is easily obtained illegally, so monitoring and protecting these areas remains a vigilant task. The suspects will appear in Kariba Magistrates Court. Thank you to all those involved in this operation. Ahh, one of my favourite places on earth! This is the view from Gorges Lodge on the Zambezi River, and a very challenging view for all of my Tour Guests to practice their photography! Why challenging? Because of the very dark gorge walls and the very bright sky! We had a couple of landscape shooting sessions here, talking about dynamic range and practicing with filters and different compositions. I ended up in the bushes, as always, shooting through some golden foreground and much preferred this take. When I’m not shooting here, I’m drinking copious amounts of gin and tonic and enjoying the incredible view. @TourismZimbabweOfficial #AWorldOfWonders #VisitZimbabwe #ZimBathWay #OlympusInspired #VictoriaFalls #BatokaGorge #ZambeziRiver #Traveller_Au #GirlsLoveTravel #ASTW #EverydayAfrica #ExploreAfrica #TravelAfrica #VisitAfrica #VicFalls #Zimbabwe #ZambeziRiver #ZimParks #Travel_Captures #ImveloSafariLodges #GorgesLodge #Sunrise_Lovers #Sunrise

How does one capture one of the seven wonders of the natural world in a photograph? If you do a google image search of the Victoria Falls you’ll be hard pressed to see anything truly stunning there. And the reason is, it’s impossible to capture the glory of this place in a single, still image. I was lucky enough to have four attempts at shooting this place, twice on each tour I ran. And still ... I don’t think I did it justice. You would think that returning back to this place again and again would lessen its impressiveness but actually the opposite is true. On this, my last visit, I was actually tearing up at the beauty. (Again! 😩 ) To have something so powerful and beautiful and raw and real on our planet, in a place that doesn’t receive enough visitors, and in a place with very little man-made infrastructure, is special. Even if Zimbabwe has never been on your radar before, the Victoria Falls is a sight that you must see before you die. This is a mere hint of a glimpse of it. ❤️ @TourismZimbabweOfficial #AWorldOfWonders #VisitZimbabwe #ZimBathWay #OlympusInspired #VictoriaFalls #SevenWondersOfTheWorld #Traveller_Au #GirlsLoveTravel #ASTW #EverydayAfrica #ExploreAfrica #TravelAfrica #VisitAfrica #Rainbow #VicFalls #Zimbabwe #ZambeziRiver #ZimParks #Travel_Captures #Rainbow #🌈

Every time I look at this photo I think there’s a cursor over the lion’s eye. Look closer though ... it’s actually the reflection of our safari vehicle, that’s how close we were! I haven’t mentioned this yet, but I was actually one lens down for both of my back to back Zim tours. My favorite lens, and most versatile for safari!! (40-150 f2.8 Olympus with an equivalent focal length of 80-300 ). I broke it as soon as I arrived and the replacement didn’t clear customs in time for tour 2. Rather than spit the dummy I decided to look at it as a creative challenge and you’ll note that all of my images are either super zoomed from my equivalent 600mm prime lens, or super wide (for wildlife ) at 24-80. I really, really enjoyed seeing what I could do in challenging situations without my go-to lens, and I hope you like what I came back with? Special thanks to our guide Vusa from Imvelo Safari Lodges for his excellent work finding the cats for us, tour 1 was jam packed with lion and cheetah. @TourismZimbabweOfficial #AWorldOfWonders #VisitZimbabwe #ImveloSafariLodges #Hwange #Reflection #HwangeNationalPark #ZimParks #Zimbabwe #ZimBathWay #WildlifePlanet #AfricanAnimals #OlympusInspired #WildlifeConservation #Traveller_Au #GirlsLoveTravel #ASTW #EverydayAfrica #ExploreAfrica #WildlifeWarrior #Sunrise_Pics #SunriseLover #TravelAfrica #VisitAfrica #Lion #LionLove #AnimalKingdom #Travel_Captures #CamelthornLodge

Zimbabwe are sitting on 100s of millions of dollars worth of ivory, found in the bush due to natural death and confiscated off poachers. You ban the ivory trade so Zimbabwe just sell the whole elephant. Great job @cites thanks for killing our wildlife.
