Im was pretty excited about this one!!! This was my first Galaxy!!! After Hours and hours exposing this under a beautiful night sky, to the last 7 hours straight post processing this has seriously been a mission. This is also the farthest object I have photographed. I made the jump from 4,000 Light years in my last deep space image (Trifid Nebula ) to 21 MILLION light years away! Id like to introduce to you the Pinwheel Galaxy also known as M101. Located in Ursa Major also known as the Big Dipper and is over twice the size of the Milky Way. Its a star making machine with over 3000 star birthing regions in its spiral arms and has produced over a trillion stars. Just to get an idea of how far it is away the Juno Space Probe is the fastest man made object in history and is traveling though space at 150,000 MPH, and even that ship would take 400 billion years to reach. The thing that fascinates me the most is that when light left that galaxy 21 million years ago there was only 2 continents. California was underwater, prehistoric creatures were regrowing after the wipe out of the dinosaurs, Humans didn't exists... we were just straight up apes. Ive always said that Telescopes are time machines. Its amazing that i was able to capture and store 21 million year old light traveling though the depths of space uninterrupted by anything....until it hit my lens. Brilliant. I hope to revisit this Galaxy with at least 6-8 hours of data and a larger telescope in the future. A few months ago i spontaneously wanted to shoot in Joshua Tree. I called up a few friends who i know are always super down for any adventure, any time. Monica Vidaurre, Jenene Curry, Christie Newby, and Dominique Nichole Love got in the car and drove 3 hours with me in the dark to White Tank Campground, we parked our car, i gave everyone head lights and he hiked in the desert to find the very well known Arch Rock. they found a nice place to settle down, put down their pads, eat some food, play some games under a beautiful night sky.I on the other hand was on a mission to get some good shoots,s o go figures i was climbing on rocks, off exploring and trying to be creative with lights when i came up with this idea. This picture symbolizes the cage of comfort (The Orb ) we all have and for the most part, are stuck in. Its a cage that keeps us doing the same thing, staying in the same city and stops us from doing something risky and crazy. It keeps us in our comfort zone. Doing something spontaneous like randomly leaving in the midle of the night to go hike in the desert to me is leaving your comfort cage, its breaking free to explore the unknown. The Idea is this Light Man has broken free of his cage and for the first time in a long time can look upon the great unknown, the vastness of mystery and dream and ponder things outside his normal frame of mind. We should all be like the Light Man and open up ourself to new things, take risks, be adventurous and see what is out there for us to discover. Jupiter and Saturn last night. Shot in LRGB with an LX90 and an asi1600mm (my equipment is always linked in my bio ). These images are taken in each channel separately, and involve recording a high-framerate video of the object in each channel and then stacking and sharpening them in post processing. Seeing conditions were "above average" for the first time in months. I haven't been able to get images this sharp with my Celestron unfortunately so it was nice to have another scope handy!

The Weird Question Mark Thing"⁣ M45 - Pleiades - The Seven Sisters⁣ Was a relaxing night out in one of my favorite close by get away spots. I drove out there, set up my telescope gear, just to find that i left my battery pack at home...so... i ended up running power from my car battery. I had gone out there to collect photographic data on M33 (aka Triangulum Galaxy ) but... by the time i saw the galaxy in my camera it was pretty high in the sky as a new object arose above the horizon. so... I decided to choose a different target. M45, Pleiades (aka The Seven Sisters ) star cluster. Dominique Nichole Love came with me and kept me good company by sleeping in my car..lol. either way, Spontaneously at 2:20am in the morning Monica Vidaurre showed up and one of the first thing she says was "Whats that weird Question Mark Thing?" As she points to the constellation i just so happen to be shooting at. It was a pretty funny moment for sure. ⁣ Fun Facts:⁣ M45 is 390 and 460 light years away, making it one of the most easily viewable star clusters from Earth, The stars are named after the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology along with their parents. In order of brightness they are Alcyone, Atlas, Electra, Maia, Merope, Taygeta, Pleione, Celaeno and Sterope. Its pretty crazy to think about because these stars range at 15 to 90x bigger than our sun. THEIR HUGE! ⁣ Anyways hope you all enjoy.⁣ -Mack Murdoc⁣ Photo Details:⁣ Camera: Canon 60d⁣ Lens: Explore Scientific 80mm Carbon Fiber Refractor⁣ Focal Length: 480mm⁣ Mount: Orion Atlas EQ-G⁣ Polar Align: Polemaster⁣ Shutter Speed: 150 seconds x 75 images⁣ Apature: F6⁣ Iso: 1000⁣ Calibration frames: 40 Light -40 Dark -50 Bias⁣ Total Exposure Time: 3 hours⁣ Edited in Adobe Photoshop ⁣ Astro gear from @highpointscientific#MyCanonStory #canonfanphoto#TeamHighpoint#nightsky #ig_nightphotography #astrophotography #universetoday #nightscape #milkywaygalaxy #stargazing #photoshop #longexposure_shots #astrophoto #nightimages #milkywaychasers #nightshooters #natgeospace #ig_astrophotography #deepsky #weownthenight_la #space #nasa #universet #galaxies #clusters #celestial #stars #cosmic #explorescientific #APOD

"Orb Stealer AS I was on my 10 hour flight to London i had some time to edit a shot that ive been meaning to for a while. A while ago, Dominique Nichole Love, Christie Newby, Monica Vidaurre and Jenene Curry came out with me to Joshua Tree. We had a great time adventuring around Arch Rock which is a very popular spot. Then.... I stumbled across this area which had so many possibilities. I came up with this concept much like Indiana Jones...but instead one of my entities ricking his life over some sort of energy ball that could be worth millions and sustain the energy of a planet for millions of years. As he throws his whip and grabs hold, he starts loosing his grip and needs to make the choice to risk falling in the fiery flames or to let go of his whip and and regain a better hand hold to save his life. We all have moments in out lives where we need to make a choice between something import like a life dream, and something almost equally important like the risk of your life. Which do you give up? Let me know a time when you had to choose between 2 important things that either choice would change the existence of who you are. Photo Details @Canonusa Camera: #Canon EOS 6D Lens: Canon EF L ‑ 24mm‑105mm ‑ F/4.0 Aperture: f4 ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: FG:2:46 Sky: 2mins Focal Length: FG 24mm Sky:35mmUsed Skywatcher Star Adventurer Tracker got at @highpointscientific #longexposure #longexpo #lazyshutters #slowshutter #longexposureoftheday #longexposures #longexposurephotography #canonusa #earth_shotz #amazing_longexpo #longexpo_addiction #eclectic_shotz #ic_longexpo #canon_photos #awesome_photographers #picoftheday #master_gallery #Teamhighpoint

Pluto. A full blown planet for centuries until we realized we never had a way to classify what makes a planet, a planet. So, in 2006 scientists got together and created a system. . A planet must have these three characteristics: ⠀ 1. A planet must orbit the sun. Check. Pluto makes an orbit around the sun every 248 years. . 2. A planet must have enough mass, and spin fast enough to create a spherical shape. Check. Pluto might be small, but it has enough mass to form into a sphere. To get an idea of Pluto's size, it's half the size of the United States! .⠀ 3. It must clear the neighborhood of its orbit. Nope, here is where Pluto falls short. We will quickly explain what this means. Planets like Earth have a gravitational pull that pushes and sweeps everything in our path away as we travel in our orbit, making us the dominant body. Pluto is in a huge asteroid field called the Kuiper Belt, and has not cleared its path which renders Pluto… not a planet, though is later referred to as a dwarf planet. .⠀ Another fun fact: Pluto isn’t always the farthest planet. In fact, from 1979 to 1999, Neptune was much farther than Pluto from the Sun. (This is due to Pluto’s Offside Orbit. ) . Do you still hold onto Pluto as a planet? Posted @withrepost@cosmic_background Earlier in the year I created a composite of our solar system from objects that I imaged in 2018. It was what kicked off a bit of my Reddit/Instagram popularity. I hated it. I threw it together on a whim while I was sick so I could have a new phone background. Nothing was well lined up and the planets were out of order. I've learned a lot since then, got better at lunar and planetary imaging, and began hydrogen-alpha solar imaging, so I decided to recreate it. This has about 9x the resolution of my original. It is available in my gallery as a print and my digital shop as a wallpaper. Enjoy! "Dreamers"⁣⠀ So then, let’s suppose that you were able every night to dream any dream you wanted to dream, and that you could, for example, have the power within one night to dream 75 years of time, or any length of time you wanted to have.⠀ ⠀ And you would, naturally, as you began on this adventure of dreams, you would fulfill all your wishes. You would have every kind of pleasure you could conceive. And after several nights of 75 years of total pleasure each you would say “Well that was pretty great. But now let’s have a surprise, let’s have a dream which isn’t under control, where something is gonna happen to me that I don’t know what it's gonna be."⠀ ⠀ And you would dig that and would come out of that and you would say “Wow that was a close shave, wasn’t it?”. Then you would get more and more adventurous and you would make further- and further-out gambles what you would dream. And finally, you would dream where you are now. You would dream the dream of living the life that you are actually living today.⠀ Alan Watts⠀ Photo Details @Canonusa ⠀ Camera: Canon 6d⠀ Lens : Canon 50mm F1.4⠀ Exposure Time: 120 seconds ⠀ Focal Length: Sky: 50mm pano⠀ ISO 3200⠀ Apature: F4⠀ Foreground 14mmForeground 10 image panoSky 10 image pano⠀Gear: Skywatcher Star Adventurer found at @highpointscientific ⠀ ⠀ #nasa #astronomy #astronaut #space #galaxy #cosmos #nebula #universe #solarsystem #planets #astrophotography #science #hubble #stars #milkyway #outerspace #spacex #iss #telescope #interstellar #nightsky #nasabeyond #astrophysics #esa #constellation #rocket #TeamHighpoint #UniverseToday #highpointscientific #FantasticUniverse

"Wings Of Icarus"⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⠀ For those who dont know the story of Icarus let me fill you in. Icarus, the son of Daedalus were very popular in greek Mythology. They were highly regarded for his amazing sculptures and brilliant inventions of MANY MANY things. But one day they were sentenced to spend the rest of their lifes upon a tall tower as a prisoner for creating a Minitar (half man half bull ). Daedalus being a brilliant inventor constructed a pair of wings and sealed them with Wax So they can fly out of their tower to freedom. He was told not to fly too near the Sun or the wax will melt, or too close to the water as it will dampen the wings making it to heavy to use. He flew too close to the sun, his wings melted, and he fell to the Sea.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⠀ The moral of the story is life is a gift, and maintaining a balance with everything in moderation will ensure a long one. The wings represent the father giving his son life; the ocean and the sun represent the extremes of denying and overindulging yourself, flying in between is the answer. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⠀ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⠀ Myself, Skylar Keck and Dominique Nichole Love went on a night time adventure to the oldest lake in North America. The lake is over 1 million years old. Mono Lake which is known for their HUGE pillars of Calcium Deposits called Tufa Towers. This lake is also 3x saltier then the ocean. As we were filming part of the vlog i had myself and Domonique get into the water to shoot some fire pyro long exposures next to the Tufas while getting the fire reflection in the water. As we were there we could feel the hundreds of mini shrimp eating the bacteria off our feet. It was weird to say the least. Then once the sun was fully gone and we were engulfed in pitch black, the moths came to feed on the shrimp near the surface of the water... which in turn brought of dozens and dozens of adorable bats. That were wooshing past our heads getting our food but not interfering with us. Hearing them make thier clicking noises using sonar and echolocation to find their food, was such a treat to see. We lightpainted with the tufas and got some pretty wicked Milky Way Shots. It was a killer adventure for sure.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⠀ #MyCanonStory #CanonFanPhoto

"A Theory Of The Universe"⠀ OK bare with me for a min. SO Atoms, are one of the smallest building blocks of life. The contain a nucleus which has protons and neutrons in there and electrons that revolve around. Our solar system has a sun in the center and planets and moons revolve around it. Our galaxy has black hole in its center and solar systems, stars, and so much more revolve around it. ⠀ Do atoms know its bigger purpose? Do they know that they are so much bigger than just a neutrons, proton and electron. Take for example Hydrogen, One of the most Simplistic atoms but its one of the most important. You need it for life to survive. Our body is 3/4ths hydrogen. Everyone living thing in the universe (as far as we know ) needs that 1 atom to exists. Hydrogen which is the most common element in the universe. But heres the thing.. there are 100 trillion Atoms in 1 red blood cell, and there are 32 trillion cells in the human body on average. So... Does a atom know its part of a cell, or the bigger picture a human. ⠀ So heres my theory, What if we are part of something so much bigger than us but its so big we would never see it, or feel it? What if our solar system is just a proton, our galaxy is just an atom, and our universe was just a cell to something so much bigger? What if 32 trillion universes made up some other living being that lives its life in its world just as we do? What if we were just another element in their periodic table? Its a fascinating Concept to think about⠀ What do you think? Whats your ideas and theories?⠀ ⠀ . #MyCanonStory #CanonFanPhoto @Canonusa ⠀ Camera: Canon 6d⠀ Lens : #Canon 50mm F1.4 & Canon 14mm⠀ Exposure Time: 120 seconds pano⠀ Focal Length: Sky: 50mm FG:14mm⠀ ISO 1600⠀ Apature: F2.8⠀ Gear: Skywatcher Star Adventurer from @highpointscientific ⠀ ⠀ #ourplanetdaily #longexpoelite #TeamHighpoint #astrophotography #longexposure #visualambassadors #night_excl #nightsky #sahara #shotzdelight #artofvisuals #canon_photos #ournaturedays #ig_shotz #tentree #lensbible #exceptional_pictures #nightphotography #roamtheplanet #earthofficial #earthpix #nightscape #nightscaper #fantasticuniverse #universetoday #natgeo #YourShotPhotographer

"Space Cadet"⠀ ⠀ “Exploration is in our nature. We began as wanderers, and we are wanderers still. We have lingered long enough on the shores of the cosmic ocean. We are ready at last to set sail for the stars.”- Carl Sagan⠀ ⠀ It was a beautiful but cold night when we stumbled into the lost 2 Guns Ghost Town hidden off the freeway in the middle of No Where Arizona. This area has so much history from Dark, to Haunted, to an Abandoned Zoo. It just shows the amazing things you can find when you're willing to explore and have a random adventure. Thats what fascinates me the most about space. We barely explored a fraction of a pixel of space. "Somewhere I Belong"⠀ ⠀ 6 Nights ago Dominique Nichole Love and I waited in the car after a long day of hiking until the sun started to fall and the heat of Joshua Tree subsided. A bit before golden hour (Sunset ) we started the trek in through the desert and a while later we arrived at Barker Dam.A water basin in which a good deal of rain water collects in a place that doesn't get much rain.We finally got there just as the sun went below the horizon and the sky started to get dark. I looked over and Dom was starting to get cold already. Go figures she didn't listen to me when I told her to dress warm and wear sweats and a sweater. BUT she was a trooper and stuck it out to make sure the hike in was not wasted. As we waited for the sky to get darker we played music and watched the ducks swim in the water. Then finally, i set up my tripod, thought of my idea in my head, composed my shot, and originally i was my own model for this. Then i decided to warm Dom up I would have her start moving around and be my model. Now dont get me wrong, I love working with new models and fresh faces but theres something about Dom that when I tell her my vision, and direct her, she pretty much nails the shot the first try with the perfect emotion that i was trying to channel. I don't need to direct her to much because she just feels what im feeling and portrays it as a model. Shes come a long way from someone who hated being in front of a camera since I met her. I gave her a camera flash with a light sphere diffuser at the top, i set it to manual and when i told her to , she were to push a button and trigger the flash and create the ball of light, the spirit, the entity. She got into position, made a few tweaks and directions and then started the count down for the exposure. 3...2....1...Action, She looks at the light sphere and triggers it creating the ball of light and a beautiful array of shadows and highlights on the rocks, she sat perfectly still until the exposure was over. WE looked at the back of the camera, made maybe 1 small adjustment of moving her hair back to see her face and we tried it again and nailed it. (Settings and More Description in the comments below )

We had a whirlwind last couple of days with getting ready to host and actually hosting our home IEA show, but I think it’s safe to say that we pulled it off! We absolutely could not have made it such a success without all of our amazing parent volunteers who ran our show office, concessions, horse holding area, and did so much other work behind the scenes (you know, like moving the entire course to our indoor yesterday afternoon due to the large amounts of rain we had gotten the night before )!! We are also very proud of our riders! Some highlights from today: Natalie S. was second in her o/f class, Paydee won her flat class, and Mischa won her o/f class. Our middle school team also tied for second. Great job today, everyone!! @jessicadaenen @rideiea #horseshowdays #teamhighpoint

Fabulous job this weekend, ladies!! Natalie S. and Lena rocked it this weekend in Pre-Children’s, including a 3rd in today’s derby (out of 17 😱 ); Ella had solid trips in Long Stirrup yesterday, and she and Leo moved up to Pre-Children’s today; Ginger and Brew had some lovely rounds in Mini Hunter both mornings, and earned some extra gold stars for showing in a downpour yesterday; Maddie and Ivey enjoyed their last show together as a team, before Maddie moves on to a bigger pony. Thanks, @hj_fox , for a great season! #hjfoxfinals #teamhighpoint

Our IEA team had a good second day of showing at @wisteriafarm ! Our High School Team ended up tying for 2nd today, but the tie-breaker made us 3rd 😭 Middle School had some tough rides, but many riders improved their riding from yesterday. Thankful for 2 days of nice weather, nice horses, and positive attitudes from all of our kiddos! #teamhighpoint @rideiea

Thanks for a wonderful show weekend, @hj_fox ! Fayth didn’t show today, but Ginger and Brew came away with a Reserve Champion, Lauren and Bleu cantered both of their Crossrail courses today and did well on the flat, Natalie S. and Lena were 3rd in the 2’6” Derby, and Natalie B. and Flo (again, the horse, not the hurricane ) did well in Long Stirrup again today. Thanks to our horse show parents for keeping us fed and hydrated—we couldn’t do it without y’all! #horseshowdays #teamhighpoint
