CHAI CHEE KWAY CHAP 🤩 || I’m a sucker for good kway chap, so when I came across a fb vid on Chai Chee Kway Chap 🥣 I decided to give it a try myself cuz I don’t always trust reviews, esp paid ones. 🧐 . My verdict?? Above average, worth a stop of you’re in the vicinity. 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 Nth compared to 284 Kway chap at bishan. . Three things most important to a lip smacking kway chap: . 🔥 Thorough braised, tasty, soaked through innards 🔥 Shiok kway broth that makes u wna drink it non stop without feeling jelat 🔥 Slightly watery chilli that blends in w the spoonful of goodness . Chai chee’s innards 🐽 were tasty, no doubt, but a tad chewy. . Broth 🥣 was pleasant, but abit bland. . Chilli 🌶 was too thick, and too sharp. . Well, I did enjoy the kway chap, though it made me crave for 284 kway chap. 🔥🔥Hahah. Maybe tmr night. But that’s require another 5km run. 😂
No better way to start a ☀️ day with a bowl topped with spicy salmon 🍣, aburi salmon mentaiko & salmon roe! Customized chirashi at @salmonsamurai ! . Awesome 👏🏼 recommendation by @littlesour ! 💯💯 and such a gem for the Tanjong Pagar peeps. 😩😩 I also want!! . I added & added stuff, and it only cost $19.90 w a cold green tea 🍵. It really is pretty worth it considering a chirashi bowl 🍚 like this can go up to $30ish! . I like their salmon 🐠 sashimi variations more than the normal sashimi because they do their sauces well! The spicy 🌶 one is shiok!! . Definitely not gna be my last visit. 😬💯 . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻& 1/2
I was pleasantly surprised 😯 to see @rysszz_ served such a beautiful plate of Char Siew 🐽 Rice 🍚. Only at $7.50! I had my usual boat 🚣♀️ noodles. 😬 . So I interviewed him on how it was, and here is the review! . Char siew tenderness so-so, but the sauce 🔥 that drenched the generous portion of pork slices made up for average texture! . @rysszz_ also mentioned that the soaking the egg yolk in char siew sauce & having a lil egg 🍳, char siew & rice all nestled on the same spoon makes for gourmet delight! Tbh, makes me feel like eating it too. 😅😅 . My sensing?? 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 . I’ll try the next time i’m here! 😬😬
This Musang 🐱King 👑 ice cream 🍦 is much much better tasting than it looks 👓. . @camaca sg has been such a comfort in ☀️ scorching hot days. Their 🍦 are without sugar, held in macaroon looking shells 🐚 and are churned out fresh by a special ice cream machine! Quite a spectacle! 👏🏼👏🏼 . The 猫山王 🍦 cost $6.80 but I must say, worth every cent. Try it!! . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻
Another excellent find at Sims Ave! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Near where I stay somemore! 😀😀 . Builders is situated in a heartland area, but it’s food is restaurant & legit cafe standard! 🔥🔥 . I shared the Wagyu Burger ($17 ) 🍔 w Curly Fries 🍟 with the birthday girl @roslinananana & every item on the plate was really surprisingly yummy! 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 . This includes the sautéed caramelized onions, the medium done wagyu patty 🥩, the crispy buttery brioche & the nicely fried curly fries! 🔥🔥🔥 . Another pleasant surprise is the cold brew ☕️! This version came w milk 🥛. Creamy, aromatic & a gd balance between fruity & nutty 🥜. . Awesome Saturday chill out! 😎😬
🧔🏻 is back after a break to organize a super awesome Easter Carnival 🎡 at KAP mall! 😬🎉 . Nth better than to do HIGH TEA ☕️🧁 in the middle of a weekday afternoon! 🤤 So, we @ssarah_3186 @roslinananana landed at @themarmaladepantry at Ion Orchard! 🥳 . Love the wide range of savories 🍳& sweets 🍫 on this pretty two tier tray! 😍 ($60 incl two drinks ) 👍🏼 . Special mention ⭐️ for the scones w clotted cream. Fresh outta the oven w two types of delicious jams. . I really enjoy the chill atmosphere 🛋 here. The ☕️ is also pretty gd! . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻& 1/2 . It’s gd to be back to food blogging! Rather therapeutic I must say! 😬😬
An excellent cuppa ☕️ at @camaca sg! It’s an amazing space at KAP mall 🔥🔥 to get some work done w sugar-free beverages + awesome gelato! 🍦
This has been my go-to takeaway lunch for a couple of times! 😅 MAC & CHEESE 🧀 fritters from @kindredfolksg ($9 ). . I really like them. They are always freshly fried. 🔥🔥 the outside is crisped just right, and the inside is oozing with gooey, tasty cheese 🧀 & macaroni. 🤤 Comfort food done well. 👍🏼👍🏼 Easy to eat & just the right portion to fill my happy belly 😬😬 . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 & 1/2
I needed this today. . Coffee ☕️ & Red Velvet Nutella Cake 🍰 to the rescue. . Enjoyed it as usual. @pacamara_sg rarely disappoints.
I can’t resist anything that’s 🧀-related. But that also means my cheesy food standard is quite high.. 🔥🔥 Let’s see how KFC’s new Mac & Cheese Zinger 🍔 fares. 😬😬 . Zinger used to be my FAV burger until... yup.. Mcspicy came along. 😊🤤 I think KFC went kinda downhill since. I think la... . (Disclaimer: I got the mac & cheese 🧀 burger as a takeaway meal so quality might differ slightly ) . The top patty seemed dry. 😕 I started out kinda unimpressed. Tasty, yes, but dry. But... it started getting better. . I went to the bottom patty, which was surprisingly succulent, creamy, and soaked w liquid cheese 🧀. The burger started to feel shiokkk. 😅 . But it was when I bit into the chicken 🍗 patty that I stepped into 7th Heaven. I kinda forgot how zinger tasted like. And the juiciness of that slice of chicken 🍗 overwhelmed me. For that moment, I felt I would convert back to a zinger-fan. 😅😅 . Well done @kfc_sg , this burger is quite the novelty. 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻
I love @tanukiraw 💙 I’ve frequented it since the very beginning & their happy 😃 hour (think sashimi and oysters at super low prices )! 🔥🔥 . For $19.90, you get a wagyu 🥩 don w poached egg 🍳 and a gd piece of foie grad. This makes for a bowl packed w umami. 🤤🤤 . The boy @elia5_toh 👦🏻 had the wagyu 🥩 don today while I tried something else - the unagi scallop bowl 🍚, also with foie grad. $24.90. It was good. 👍🏼 But I prefer my usual wagyu don. 😬 . This, in my opinion, is one of those cannot-go-wrong place. And prices are really reasonable. : ) 🔥🔥 . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 & half
This is my idea of a #valentines day dinner. 😬😬🔥🔥
. . I’d be honest. If you come here, go straight for the ⭐️ PREMIUM UNI CHIRASHI ⭐️ (full portion ) + Ikura at $68 and that’s that. 😄 Don’t need to go for the sides, no point. . I will only rate the ⭐️ Uni Bowl ⭐️ here. It was GOOD. The Canadian 🇨🇦 variety was such a shocker - creamy, rich, fresh, no smell at all. It was also so thick and sizable that I didn’t feel the Uni just melt away like the Japanese 🇯🇵 variant. I feel? Worth every cent of the $68. 😎 . For a moment, brought me back to Tsukiji. 😇 . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻
I still remember having to pick up a chocolate 🍫 nut doorstop cake 🍰 for my aunt at @pscafe many many years back. That was the first time I heard of PS cafe. 😬 . Since then, I’ve occasionally popped in for some truffle fries 🍟, and a slice of this rich goodness - probably the most expensive slice of cake 🍰 I’d pay for in SG at $16 per slice. Worth the $? I don’t think so. 😂 But I haven’t tasted something like this, so it’s worth the experience. . Sprinkled on top are delectable chocolate coated Maltese balls 🍫. On the top is rich chocolate mousse. Mid layer is a thick cluster of caramalized nuts 🥜 & at the bottom layer you hv a brownie slice, prolly on the dryer side. 🙂 . You pretty much have all kinds of textures & all types of chocolate 🍫 flavors in there. I advise 2 pax to share a slice. Can be quite jelat. 😬 . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻
🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 Back after a short break! I missed my fooood! . So I headed to Tiong Bahru Market, looking forward to my usual carrot cake fix w extra egg 🍳 but it was closed... 😩 . Walking around, I was attracted to Ali Corner (Malay food ) (beside TB pau ) because of the crowd. 👨👩👧👦👨👩👧👨👩👦👦 But more than that, many had on their tables a plate yellowish orange Lontong! ☀️ There’s something yellow swishy vegetables 🥬🌶 that appeal to me & so I joined the queue and got myself a serving. 😬😬 . I swopped the rice 🍚 cakes for 2 bagadels (potato balls ), which I thoroughly enjoyed! The vegetables were soft but not mushy 👍🏼 & the yellow curry was rich but drinkable, not jelat at all! 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 . I downed the plate of sunshine ☀️ in less than 10mins. Pretty enjoyable! And comforting myself that I had vegetables for brekkie! 😂😂 . Gong Xi Fa Cai! 🧨 Huat ah! 💵
#throwback to 🧔🏻 @🇹🇼: Kaohsiung! . This was one of the best bubble tea 💯 I’ve ever tasted. Admittedly, I was drawn to the looooong queue like a kiasu Singaporean 😂, but I was soon mesmerized by how they were mixing freshly brewed bobas w molton brown sugar 😯 also known as Gula Melaka. It looked soooo shiok! 😩 . and tasted shiok too!! 😭🤤Oh man. The bubbles so soooo soft yet a lil chewy & coated w (still warm ) brown sugar lava! 👍🏼👍🏼The tea was just the right creaminess & went perfectly w the taste of Gula Melaka! 🔥🔥🔥 . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻
Back at SG! 🇸🇬 & was thinking about some healthy fare 😅 but didn’t want to compromise yummicity! 😂 . So Hualong Fishhead Steamboat 🥣 came to mind - my go to for a hearty pot of charcoal heated fish 🐟 soup w yam 🍠 and squishy vegetables 🥬 . There’s a flavor from charcoal fishhead steamboats that the normal fish 🐟 soups cannot replicate. And it’s not just the fried dried cod 🐟 fillets they throw in there. I love hualong’s version though it is quite steep at $28.80 for a small pot. 😉 . I give it 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 & 1/2! It’s located at AMK! Worth a try definitely! 💪🏼
🧔🏻 @🇹🇼 || Anyone can name this dish? 🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♀️😉 leave a comment! . I love the different textures. 😉 & Glutinous rice 🍚 also proves to be my soft spot as well, hence the 💛 for 肉粽 & lo mai gai. 🙂 . I love this dish. Simple, but so yummy. 🤤 I had another version at the night market where they cut it up & fried it w chilli 🌶, onions & a really nice sweet sauce. 🔥🔥 . Do look out for it when you visit 🇹🇼! . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 & 1/2
🧔🏻 @🇹🇼 - Kenting || This is primarily a foodie ig! 🥘 But I want to recommend this awesome homestay 🏡 villa at Kenting 🏔! . The 68yo Aunty 🧓🏻 serves up awesome, wholesome brekkie 🍳 every day from scratch! And she used to be a sch principal 📚 who decided to stay active with this homestay biz! 🔥🔥 . There is a garden 🌱 on the plate everyday! ☀️ alongside some local delights like 🥟s & international food items like salsa 🍅 & egg 🥚 mayo sandwich 🥪! . It’s really fun cuz it’s like a surprise box 📦! You never know what you get each morning! 🌞 . I love it! 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻
🧔🏻 @🇹🇼 - Kenting || So, how does 🐮 noodles or 牛肉面 taste here in Taiwan? 🧐 . My brother and I concluded that we are a lil spoilt. 😂 We are used to well-marbled beef 🥩- tender & flavorful. We were commenting that the beef 🥩 in the noodles is what we use in SG to boil soup stock, and leave in the pot, unconsumed. 🙈🙉 . So while the soup was pretty gd 👍🏼, esp in crazy windy 🌬 weather, and while the noodles were qq & yummy, the beef was quite a let-down 🙁 . What I enjoyed though, was the century egg 🥚 tofu! 皮蛋豆腐 was really yummy! The tofu was chilled and the century egg was soooo rich. 🔥🔥 . Over experience so-so. 🧔🏻🧔🏻 & 1/2
👨🏻 @🇹🇼 - Kenting || Suppose to be 家常便饭 (some normal local fare ) 😉 but turned out better than we thought. I think we’re snacking 😂 so much this trip that a sit-down meal is much much appreciated. 😇 . I really like the ‘orange 🍊 prawn 🦐 ball dish (in pic )’! It’s really good! Crunchy, zesty, salty, sweet all at once! 🔥🔥 . As usual, we ordered Sashimi 🍣 for 200twd (in pic ), and it was nubbad. 👍🏼 Taste a lil like Tuna. Menu writes “pacific fish 🐟” 🧐 . The winds are getting stronger!! 💨Hopefully when it blows our body fiercely, we lose weight at the same time like those vibrating fat burning machine! Hahaha. 😂 . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻
🧔🏻 @🇹🇼 - Kenting || I remember when I was a kid, I would be at Junction 8 foodcourt 🥘 (it just opened then ), looking longingly at the teppanyaki 🥩 selling for $7.90 a set. Now these stores are rarer & also quite expensive 💰; not that delicious too. . I enjoyed my SGD$10 set here at 333, Kending Road. :D 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻& 1/2. 👍🏼👍🏼🔥 . The chicken was fried w a fragrant spicy 🌶 sauce that carried a hint of sesame oil & garlic. Yum! It also came with fried 🦀 meat & onions, the usual bean sprout & cabbage 🥬 & free flow soup & drinks! What a steal! 😬😬 . #Family makes any meal taste better! Doesn’t it? 🙌🏼🙆🏻♂️
With so much ham and turkey 🦃 going around every Christmas 🎄 season, I’d opt for Tonkatsu and Tempura 🍤 anytime! 😬🤩 . What attracts me back to @tonkatsubymamaison all the time is their.... 🥁 drumroll... SOUP 🥣. Their free flow miso soup that’s jam packed with flavor and ingredients. 😩😩 . Of course, their tonkatsu 🐷 is among da best in SG too, but I just came back from Osaka 🇯🇵, so Jap food in SG is quite underwhelming. 😅 . I opted for the Kurobata Loin Katsu 🐖 ($33.80 ) which honestly wasn’t a huge lot better than the normal Rosa Katsu Loin ($24.80 ), so do go for the latter. : ) . Service isn’t great tbh, but I had great company w me. 😬 that’s enough for an awesome Christmas season. ♥️♥️ . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 & 1/2
Here’s a gooey mac & cheese 🧀 from @birdysallday to start the awesome day! . Can you smell Christmas 🎄 in the air??! I dno why, but Christmas smells like espresso ☕️ shots to me. HAHA. And @birdysallday serves great coffee! . Have I mentioned? I love the FOLKS at Birdy’s. 🐦 So so friendly and approachable. Ever so helpful! ⭐️ to awesome service staff this Christmas who make our day! . The mac & cheese 🧀 is worth it! Check out deals on #Eatigo ! 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 & half!
One of my fav DUCK 🦆 Kway chaps 🍲 BUT the main put off is the price. 💰 . This plate with a big bowl of the thick Kway teow in a herbal soup 🥣 concoction cost $15 at Bukit Timah Market. 😳😩 quite Atas . They hv a $6 one pax option but the portions are quite small! . Okay, on to the taste. 😬 I love the herbal concoction. It’s one of those reasons why I keep coming back. It makes the kwap chap unique, really flavorful and heartwarming! 🙆🏻♂️ . The ingredients, as u can see, are also tastefully 👏🏼 plated. Each item has been well stewed and/or handmade. 👍🏼 . Factoring in price I will give it 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻. Once in a while pay this ridiculous price... okay, lah. 😬
And while I was just going to tuck in my Prawn 🍤 & Asparagus Omelette 🍳($19 ) this morning at @pacamara_sg , I saw this 👶🏻 in the background & remembered: . “Children are a gift 💝 from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.” . More than parties and 🎁, Christmas is about #family 👨👩👧👦 . @pacamara_sg is having a 15% discount for Christmas on weekdays. 😊 . The Prawn 🦐 & Asparagus Omelette has good sized crunchy prawns in there and the omelette 🍳 was done almost perfectly with feta cheese 🧀 beneath. 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 & 1/2 . Coffee ☕️ here is such a pleasure too. 😇
@birdysallday 🐦 opened on the 6th Oct 2018. I only noticed 👓 them on @eatigo_sg cuz I was looking for a 50% off deal. Instead, I found a new brunch hideout. 😬😬 . The food is legit GOOD. 🔥 “The Works” ($19 ) is only $9.50 after the Eatigo deal. The scramble 🍳 is really well done, and the bread 🍞 is sooo crusty and flavourful! . I love the bratwurst 🍖 was gooood! But the best? The 🥓! It was thick, juicy and tender! Loved it!! 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 & 1/2 . Great coffee ☕️ too! You guys should check it out. Opened till 11pm daily except Tuesday, and they hv beers 🍺 of the tap at night 🌙 too!
Back to local fare!! #sgfoods 🇸🇬 . It’s ERRANDS day & I stumbled on this humble eatery SAYANG SAYANG at an industrial type building at Tai Seng! I opted for Good Ole’ Lorong with chicken 🍗 cutlet (added on 😬 ) $5 only! . For those who do not know, Lotong is an Indonesian (I think ) dish of curried vegetables with Tofu, Egg 🥚 . I enjoyed Sayang’s version! 👍🏼👍🏼 It wasn’t too rich, but flavorful! Vegetables were soft but not mushy! And the curry 🥣 was so... drinkable! such a homey dish to welcome me back. 🙆🏻♂️🥰 . Really worth it! 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻 . The Commerze is an industrial building worth checking out when you’re around Tai seng area! 😬😬😬
🧔🏻 @🇯🇵 || LUKE’S LOBSTER 🦞 ROLL - final indulgence in Osaka. 😬 . This was a really queer meal 🥘 though. Hmm. Let me explain. . I ordered the US size lobster roll set which came w lobster 🦞 bisque & a ginger ale (my choice of drink ). It cost 2200yen. It’s alright considering how generous @lukeslobster were w the chunks of crustacean. . I was anticipating my first bite! So I gurgled my mouth w ginger ale 🍺 to clear my palette, and took a good bite of the inviting roll. 😳 . Thanks lobster 🦞 chunks were cold! And tbh, I was a little startled, cuz I was expecting nice warm chunky goodness. Yet, in my mouth was cold, rubbery pieces. 😩😩 . Truth be told, I was disappointed. The meal was abit better after I.....😂😂😂😂...dunked all my lobster chunks into my bisque 🥣. Yes. The meal got a lil better. 😏 . Lesson learnt. Stick to Japanese food, in Japan. 😭😂😂 . 🧔🏻🧔🏻 (unfortunately ).
🧔🏻 @🇯🇵 || This is, the BEST. 😍😍 You NEED to make this stop at Nara. Whether it’s the TOP QUALITY 🥇 Otoro, or the super warm Uncle and Aunty, or the quaint, rustic setting, it just all comes together in perfect vibes. 👍🏼😇 . This is a Ootoro bowl 🍚 with double layer of fatty tuna slices 🐟 with miso and pickles for 3000yen. Yes. Only 3000yen. Maguro Koya is super generous w their top grade ootoro. Everyone I’ve recommended here hv never regretted it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ . I say it again. THE BEST. 😅😅🤩🤩 . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻
🧔🏻 @🇯🇵 || After scaling Mount 🏔 Wakakusa, my 20yo student guide brought me in here for some traditional Nara sweets! 🍮 Actually I told him I needed coffee if not I would start sleepwalking! 😳😂 . We ordered the Yamato Parfait 🍦(734yen ) and the Kudzumochi (496yen ) - the brown square piece of mochi coated w peanuts 🥜! . Both were yummy! 👍🏼👍🏼 It’s near the JR Nara line so do drop by for a recharge before going to feed 🦌s or climb the mount! . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻
🧔🏻 @🇯🇵 || I’m not so much of a sweets 🍭 person, gimme the cheesy 🧀, salty stuff anytime! But I like foods with interesting textures! . These SUPER FLUFFY 🥞s were an hour’s wait and gone in 10mins. HAHA. They cost 950yen and each seating at grams only serves 30 plates. 😬😬 thankful I got to try this! 🙌🏼 . They were of a more soufflé like consistency and was so pleasurable 😩🤤 to the palette! In Chinese we say 爽口! It’s not too sweet and the butter, cream and maple 🍁 that came alongside were great complements! 👍🏼 . I’d say it’s worth the wait! 🔥 And the cafe is a nice place to read and play brawl stars while waiting. 😂😂 . 🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻🧔🏻
