Happy #WorldPhotoDay ! 📸Albumen prints were the most common form of photographic prints in the mid-19th century, and used egg whites to bind photographic chemicals to the paper itself. Before the advent of color processing, these prints were sometimes colored by hand to add additional layers of depth and realism. ____ Collection highlight pictured here: "Entrance Gate of Kiyomidzu," 1865

We are so excited to announce that, "Catherine Opie b. 1961," commissioned by LACMA Productions, has received the @vimeo Staff Pick award at @Outfest ! ⭐️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In 2016, Opie’s “O Portfolio” was shown at LACMA in its entirety for the first time at a Los Angeles Museum. The photographs depict sadomasochistic scenarios derived from her participation in San Fransisco’s bondage community. Now, this film, directed by @sinianderson , traces the journey of the artist, whose work has often been labeled subversive.
