We're all in for this fall 2019 fashion trend: orange + PINK! 💕 🧡 From Who What Wear: "Contrary to popular belief, fall doesn't have to be filled with boring browns and expected blacks as far as color goes. Thanks to the F/W 19 runways, we saw pretty much every color of the rainbow come out to play, but there was a particular duo that impressed us more than the rest.... orange and pink. If you're feeling like this color combination is a bit of a throwback, you'd be right. It was the iconic and trendy set of colors we wore back in the early 2000s alongside our Juicy Couture tracksuits and Rocket Dog platform sandals. But fear not: Orange and pink have officially been presented with an air of sophistication like we've never seen before, and if you let it, the color couple could do wonders to your fall 2019 wardrobe." 💕 🧡 Are you here for this color combo??

Hey #bossbabe : tired of churning out new content? Here's one strategy to repurpose your existing content: start from big to small. . Not all of your target consumers will have time (or desire ) to read a lengthy white paper or blog post. But you can still reach them by breaking up larger pieces of content and distributing them on channels more suitable to smaller bits of information. . Here are some ideas: - Demystify a difficult concept by turning an article into a short interview you can post to your website. - Have fun with a complicated, lengthy instructions by introducing it via a short video embedded in an email to your newsletter subscribers. - For data-driven consumers, take key statistics and turn them into a persuasive infographic. . PSST... We have 5 other strategies for repurposing your existing content. Just check the link in bio!

Want to break into the beauty industry? @girlboss interviewed beauty insiders & entrepreneurs, and got their advice: ~ - Starting out... “No matter what your background, everyone starts from the bottom! In this industry, you have to pay your dues. That means starting out with a humble mindset and being willing to do the work to get experience.” —Tierra Wilson, co-founder, Beauty & Brains ~ - Taking feedback... "The most valuable lesson I learned is to take things personally. I know that may sound odd. But, when it comes to building products, it’s so important to listen, take customer feedback into account, and make changes. Taking your customers’ honest feedback to heart will only improve their experience and grow your business.” —Kelly Hsiao, founder, Block Island Organics ~ - Stay committed... “The best advice was to stay focused on what you want to do. Have a strong vision and stick with it. People will make recommendations along the way but always go with your gut and don’t make any compromises.” —Kirsten Kjaer Weis, founder, Kjaer Weis ~ Head over to Girl Bosses' blog for the full insider scoop on getting into the industry!

Are you an empath? Here are some ways to protect your energy: - Create physical distance. Step away from the situations or people that drain you, and check in with your energy. - Meditation. Before a triggering or otherwise draining occasion, make sure to recenter and arrive as your best self. - Speak up. If someone is draining your energy, a polite "no" can go a long way. Did someone ask for a favor that conflicts with your morals? Feeling like the task may exhaust you emotionally? It's okay to explain that you need time and space, and give a polite "no". // #empathsofinstagram -- how do you protect your energy?

3 Steps for styling and shooting the perfect instagram flatlay: - 1. Your brand identity comes first. Depending on what emotions you aim to invoke from your followers (e.g. girly, glamorous, polished... ), this will be the basis of your setup. 2. This leads into point two - choose props that accurately represent your brand or personal identity. If you're going for minimalism, a clean white tablecloth with simple, neutral props might be the way to go. If you're going farmhouse chic, think wood and rustic props. This being said - the props are meant to HIGHLIGHT your product, NOT compete with it. 3. Adjust, adjust, adjust. Move your camera, move your body, move the light-source (near a window for natural light is usually best ), move your props. Adjust until you feel visually satisfied. - What do you guys do to prep for the perfect flatlay?

RP from @letstalkaboutmentalhealth 〰️ an account set out to end the stigma on mental health 〰️ . "Eventually you start seeing changes. Your mind becomes lighter, the trees look brighter, the air you breathe begins to feel like food for new opportunities and life takes on a crisper color pattern. Ups and downs will continue to come and there’s still much to learn, but there’s now a new calmness in you that does not fear the old storms and helps them pass more quickly. A new awareness arises that gently reminds you that your power is yours to wield and is ready to propel you forward into deeper peace and liberating insight." ― Carla Frederico, from 'A Year In My Mind, From the Raw Perspective of Thought' #letstalkaboutmentalhealth #endthestigma • Click the link in bio to read stories on letstalk.12kindsofkindness.com

Crafting the perfect OOO autoreply for holiday festivities, your next vacay or personal day: ~ - Decide how reachable you are going to be. This depends on your job, but in most cases when it's PTO, you have no responsibility to be reachable! - Spare the details. You can be as vague as you'd like, or if it's funny/interesting feel free to give your OOO some personality. Just spare people #TMI ! - Determine if you need a backup contact. Typically this will be your manager, but certain requests can be funneled to other colleagues. - Give the date you'll be back in office, and that you'll reply to emails after that point. Sometimes including a vacation date range can be confusing (are they returning on that date? is that the last day of their vacation and they're returning the next? ). Simply provide the date you'll be back at your desk. - Stick to it. If you're out of office, yet still responding to emails, it blurs the lines between your personal and professional life. Only respond if it's absolutely necessary. ~ Also, there's no need to give excuses why you're out! You earned your PTO, so take it and enjoy yourself.

Do you have a FINSTA? A finsta, or finstagram, is a second account where users post less-curated, more-real versions of their lives. . By now we all know the impacts of social media on mental health. For many, seeing supermodel influencers and wealthy jet setters accounts can be a motivator - while for others, in our comparison culture, it can lead to feelings of inadequacy. . This is why Finsta has become a thing for many younger IG users. They post their "best life" to their original account - photos of their beautiful prom, vacations with the family. On their Finsta, it's an opportunity for them to express themselves in a less-airbrushed format - with self deprecating memes, #totalfails , and funny selfies. . Would you get a finsta? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!! We're also particularly curious about business accounts that have a finsta - OR, for small business instagram account owners, would you consider your personal account your "finsta"? A carefully crafted elevator pitch can make a WORLD of difference in networking. An #elevatorpitch is generally a quick blurb about your accomplishments and career objectives, prepared ahead of time (before that big conference or job fair! ) . Here's how to prepare an elevator pitch that lands you the job offer: - Respect your audience's time: keep your elevator pitch concise and to the point - one minute MAX - Cater to your audience: what do they want to know? If you are flexible in the career paths you want to explore, you might want to prepare more than one speech - one for one industry or job role, and another that highlights a different set of skills. - Engage: the best elevator speeches are concise, but allow pauses for questions and time for follow-up at the end. . One last tip: practice it, but not to the point of being rehearsed! You should have your main points to get across (certain experiences or skills ), and the rest should come naturally. . Do you have your elevator pitch down? Let us know in the comments! ⬇⬇⬇

Daily grind got you stressed? Use these 3 techniques to recenter + reduce anxiety: 1. Do a body scan: Take a few moments to focus on deep, steady breathing. Then, place you attention on one part of your body - generally starting at the feet - and focus on releasing energy from that one area. This can be done by tightening up all of the muscles in that area, then slowly releasing. Then, work your way up to the next body part. 🧘 2. Fact-check yourself: Say you have a big interview coming up. Instead of "I'm going to bomb it" be realistic with yourself. Reframe it to something like, "Yes I'm nervous, but I know I have X, Y and Z strengths to bring to the table". Harness the power of positive thinking 💪 3. Do...anything: Get up, go for a walk, reorganize your cosmetic drawer. The movement will release endorphins, distract your mind, and return to you a feeling of control. 💅 What do you do when you need to calm down? #dotpink

Disclaimer: not advocating that you go and empty your 401k to start a business! But, here's an inspiring story of a woman that did just that. Now her business is bringing in $100 million! . Meet Trina Spear, co-founder of @wearFIGS - a line of fitted & flattering medical scrubs. In June 2012, Spear found out about the work-wear line crafted by Heather Hasson, which was in its early stages. For months, Spear flew out to LA on weekends to meet with Hasson to drive to hospital parking lots and sell scrubs out of their car. . Spear liquidated her 401k and delved completely into the company. It wasn't without its snags though. Early on they faced an issue with production, accidentally putting a women's inseam on their line of men's scrub pants (oops! ). They took it in stride - donating some of the units, and learning quickly about quality control. . Her advice for female entrepreneurs? The glaring gender inequality in board rooms across several industries -- use that as a motivator and not an immobilizer. "I learned to use specific nuggets and negative comments from a conversation as fuel to improve -- to become more familiar with my numbers, to hone a pitch, to redo a deck. I told myself I had to be that much better so I could win and accomplish all the things I want to accomplish. That’s what enables you to be successful -- not to come out of a meeting and say, 'Well, he was sexist, and he doesn't believe in me because I'm a woman.' The more you do that, I promise you, the less successful you’ll be." Spear explains.

GirlTalk Network founder Sarah Pendrick is a force to be reckoned with! She's reclaimed & re-framed the term "girl talk" into something powerful, by creating a network that hosts events to inspire + empower women. . Her advice for other female entrepreneurs? Journaling and Visualization. "Journaling every day in the morning releases creativity, empowering thoughts and trains your mind to let go of limiting beliefs or doubts you are carrying. Visualizing and declaring what you want to the universe puts it into motion, and paying it forward releases endorphins. For every entrepreneur, meditation and visualization must be a non-negotiable to create the mindset you need to be empowered." . We hear you loud and clear! 👏💕 . Have you attended one of @girltalknetwork 's empowering + inspiring events?

Any solopreneurs and #fempreneurs out there considering a much-needed vacation!? Here's how to plan ahead, AND avoid the guilt that comes with taking time off: 1. Track your tasks ahead of time: decide which tasks need to be front-loaded before vacation, and what tasks can - gasp - wait for your return 2. Determine what "vacation" means to you: how "checked out" and unreachable do you want to be? 3. Communicate your boundaries: if you plan to be unreachable, stick to that. There's nothing more confusing for a customer than receiving an OOO auto-reply, then having them follow up with you 10 minutes later. You can set appropriate boundaries by crafting a descriptive Out of Office message. How do you guys approach taking time off?!

Have you given your finances a wellness check lately? We get it - talking about debt (personal, student, credit cards, etc ) is no fun. "Because money is still so private, many of us (including myself ) prefer to avoid talking about it. From there, it’s easy to get swept away with fears about making rent, saving for retirement, or paying off a seemingly insurmountable debt." says Ludmila Leiva for @Refinery29 She then met with Amanda Clayman, a financial therapist. Clayman recommends having a real talk with ourselves, questioning: "How much of our lives today do we want to dedicate toward inching up the likelihood of our being comfortable and taken care of tomorrow?" Her takeaways from meeting with a Financial Therapist was to understand how much our finances truly impact our emotional well-being. Question: Have you ever met with a Financial Therapist or Personal Finance Adviser? For some that are in debt, investing in meeting with an adviser or therapist can feel like a leap. We at @dot_pink would love to hear feedback! #financialadvisor #financialtherapist #financialsecurity

Their Digital Cookie platform lets girls to build a personalized site and accept digital cookie orders. The platform also educates girls on budgeting and other business acumen. . Many female entrepreneurs struggle to find funding for their projects - quietly racking up credit card debt to invest in their startup. Debt isn't the only concern for #fempreneurs , @iFundWomen explains: "the funding gap for women entrepreneurs is not just about a lack of access to capital. Lack of access to coaches and mentors who have 'been there, done that' to guide them in the process, and lack of access to a community of sisters in the hustle raising money alongside you are also huge barriers." iFundWomen set out to address these issues. They are the only crowd-sourced organization focusing on women in the early stages of their businesses. Be silent while you make your moves and once you have the facts to back up your claims talk about them all the time. #Opportunities come within our own circle and if no one knows about what you do and what you've accomplished they would even think about you." ↑ ↑ If you're having trouble showing your worth as a female entrepreneur, read this, rinse and repeat!

Need a fresh start? It's time to squash the "it's too late for me" thoughts. We all deserve a second chance, no matter our age or professional career level. Pivoting in life starts with having a candid conversation with yourself. Ask yourself these questions to gain clarity on your next move: - What is inspiring a drastic change? Is your focus more on pivoting AWAY from something uncomfortable, or pivoting TOWARDS something exciting? - What are your values? - What are your financial needs? - What are your wellness needs? - What joyful things do you want more of on a daily basis? What do you want to do less of? Once you've had this honest conversation with yourself and answered these questions, other things will start to fall into place: - How to balance your energy between family, career and self - Finding daily tasks and work that fulfill your needs AND aligns with your #values It all starts with that hard talk with yourself. So, anyone else out there considering starting over at midlife?

May is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth - a great time to look both inwards (to your own emotional health ) and outwards (to loved ones that may need support ). Whether you or a friend needs support, finding it can be challenging and disheartening at first. Here are a few tips to finding the best professional help: -- Check in with yourself or your loved one. Examine what you're looking for in a therapist. This might mean a certain specialty (e.g. Addiction services ), or just a preferred gender or age of the individual you'll feel comfortable with. -- Consult trusted friends and family members to get recommendations for therapists. You can also find reviews, bios, and other important information online. -- Confirm the logistics. This includes insurance or sliding scale services, office location, hours and other important details. -- If you're still hesitant, place a screening call to get any specific questions answered. If one or all of these steps feel daunting, ask for help. This might feel hard in and of itself, but consulting a trusted friend or family member can make a difference in finding the right help. What steps and resources do you recommend for finding the best professional mental health services? #mentalhealthtips #mentalhealthadvice #depressionposts #anxietysurvivor #professionalhelp
