“Life is a journey, not a destination.” And there’s no better reminder of this than train travel. 🚃 The Rovos Rail has the most luxurious trains in the world that travel through the heart of Africa. These beautiful, signature cream-and-green trains wind through 2- and 15-day safari-studded itineraries between Pretoria and Cape Town, South Africa, and between Pretoria and Swakopmund, Namibia, and Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. 📷: @stacieflinner

Shockingly, Palawan remains steadily under the radar, even though it continues to rank highly in our Readers' Choice Awards. El Nido alone is home to around 50 white sand beaches—it’s impossible to choose just one—all of which are set around dramatic limestone formations and have the finest and whitest sand you’ll ever see. The water is so blindingly blue it makes the Caribbean Sea look murky in comparison. And the sunsets? Well, they’ll ruin you for life. Consider yourself warned. 📷: @warrencamitan

Tokyo at night. ✨ Deciding what to do and see in this city depends on how much time you have—and for your sake, we hope you have a month; there's just so much. While the city’s streets at rush hour can feel like a video game, calmer attractions abound, from temples to contemporary museums, charmed gardens, river cruises, and bohemian sojourns. Tokyo has more than enough oddities (owl café, anyone? ) to put you in a tizzy, so a few words of advice: Arrive with a game plan. We've shared our list of the best things to do in Tokyo (link in bio ) to get you started. 📷: @lielaine

The setting at Belmond La Residencia cannot be beat—from the beautiful mountain and sea views (the best among them from the pools and tennis courts ) to the nearby rocky beaches. Stay in a room in one of the two manor houses overlooking beautiful, cantilevered landscaping, and explore the hotel's art gallery and sculpture garden, full of nods to Deià's artistic heritage. Who's adding a stay at this dreamy spot to their Mallorca itinerary? 😍 📷: @lienverwimp

It's been centuries since this gorgeous tumble of ancient and Renaissance buildings ruled the world, but Rome still captivates in a way few cities elsewhere can. Today, we come here as much for the cacio pepe in Testaccio and to wander the lanes of Monti, as we do the Pantheon which is as impressive on your first visit as it is your 30th. 🇮🇹 📷: @italysegreta

"...what’s exciting about Budapest today is seeing the time-tested charms of the city showing up in fresh guises as a new generation carries forward the city’s penchant for hedonism. Despite its myriad problems, 'Budapest still feels the thrill of being liberated,' notes András Török, a literary editor and author of an erudite guide to the city. 'It’s like a big spring that has been pushed down for a long time, and now released. It has infinite energies, and newer and newer generations of young people, who believe in the future of this place.'" Nowhere on the planet offers the same combination of surfing, spirituality and sun-kissed sybaritic pleasure as Bali. On the Island of the Gods, fresh ideas arrive like waves, creating a glorious cocktail of cultures and influences. A stay here might mean tropical brutalism of The Slow in Canggu or mod-Balinese bamboo pods at Ubud’s Bambu Indah. It might mean kicking back with Canggu’s clean-living nomads, Seminyak’s style-conscious surfers, or Ubud’s smart crowd, who eat at Noma-ish Locavore and roll their eyes at the mention of Eat, Pray, Love. Either way, everyone and everything is welcome. Whatever it is you're looking for, find it in our complete Bali travel guide—link in bio. 📷: @lilyrose

St. Barts is blessed with 14 superb beaches—each with its own distinct character. The island is so small you could easily pack in a visit to two or more in a single day. Whatever your party beach style, St. Barts has it, but if you're looking for a complete change of scene, Shellona, on quiet Shell Beach just south of Gustavia, is a laid-back Greek restaurant helmed by chef Yiannis Kioroglou (open 10 a.m. to sunset )—and it's one of the nicest of ways to end a long day in the sun. Ready to hop on a plane? We planned your perfect (long ) weekend in St. Barts at the link in bio. 📷: @lauraitzkowitz

No road trip in America is more visually mind-blowing than a tour of the Mighty Five—the tight cluster of national parks in Utah that include Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands. Whether you start in Salt Lake City and work your way South, or head east from Las Vegas, it CAN be done in three days, but most people take seven, or even fourteen if they’re really going for it. Most of your time should and will be spent knocking around the Mars-like formations of red rocks, jutting needle spires, and sheer drops to the Colorado River, but in true American road-trip fashion, there’s some pitstops worth making along the way. We gathered up everything you should know at the link in bio. 📷: @reneeroaming

A real-life jewel in Lake Pichola, this eighteenth-century palace is a sweep of courtyards, corridors, and pavilions inlaid with stone, gilt molding, and mirrors. "The pool shimmers in the morning sun, overlooks Lake Pichola and smells like jasmine. It’s certainly one of the most epic I’ve ever swam in." Words + 📷: @postcardsfromcate

It's easy to see why our readers have voted Kyoto one of the best cities in the world. Formerly Japan's capital for over 1,000 years, the city of 1.5 million is packed with fragments of the past, from a still-operating geisha district to some 1,600 ancient temples. The nature there is also unparalleled, regardless of the season: canopies of cherry blossoms in spring, verdant gardens and bamboo groves in summer, backdrops of kaleidoscopic trees in autumn, and silent dustings of snow in winter.
